Does Voice Chat work in game?

I've tried with different people, even with checking our settings, we couldn't hear each other.

It might use some really old ports. I know surround sound still works so it's hard to say if it's a mixing issue but it might not play nice with the new steam sound settings. I've not tried it recently. I do know it used to work and it was push to activate

Mic isn't working for me either.

I see the game picks up my voice, but others can't hear.

Having a convenient & efficient way to communicate is a big deal for me. The co-op experience is about working together and it helps to weed out trolls & XP leaches early on in a game before someone ruins however much time you've spent already.

I've never bothered with the voice chat in this game but this game doesn't particularly need it you will find. You might get some awful players at lower content but in Nightmare it is pretty straight forward and a quick type in chat is enough. You could opt to use Discord and there is an official Discord that is active for the game though, if you want.

Your main points are exactly the opposite of what I have stated. You never bothered with the voice chat... then why reply here? Despite having over a 1000 hours in DD, I'd rather not waste my time and gamble with the chance of who I am in a game with. "quick type in chat" is not enough, or else there would be no reason to have voice chat in games in the first place. smh

Okay, well I've had no issues since beta and can play at peak end game quite fine without issue which is precisely why I commented here.

Further, I gave you an alternative solution of Discord and the official DD discord if you really wanted voice and can't get it to work in game.

No one else has ever used the voice chat that I've been in a game with either, so I don't think it even works. Yet, we're all playing fine and many other games like MMORPGs, League of Legends, and so forth can be played just fine despite being much more complex with just text chat so I can't really agree. I do agree it is pointless to have it in the game if it doesn't work, though.
