Avoid losing data?

I just started playing and read some posts about losing data and it apparently happens during an autosave? Is there anything I can do to avoid this, I only plan on playing local and not online if that matters, and since it is local would there be any save files in the file explorer I could make copies of after playing? Thank you.

back up your DunDefHeroes.dun and DunDefHeroes.dun.bak they are located in
C:\Program Files (x86)\steam\SteamApps\common\Dungeon Defenders\Binaries\Win32

this will work for local and open saves they are the same save but there in nothing you can do about ranked saves

You should have no issues on Open/Local. If you get one then there is more likely something with your system wrong.

For ranked:
This issue is definitely smaller than people claim (Guys calm down, I don't say it doesn't exists). Always quit the game through the GUI, don't quit if you see the blue cycling icon at the bottom screen. Be sure you have a stable connections, preferably wired (Usual a wireless connection drops data frequently).

That's the reasons I see how you loose data on ranked.
