I'm confused
Why, when I just bought the game and downloaded it, did I have 10 heroes already made, 4 max lvl heroes, and almost 1 million crystals and all medals for completing all the achievements?

Mac OSX users received the save data of one of the devs during the latest patch by a mistake. :)

Eh, well, I just deleted all of the stuff anyway, but thanks! :P That is a rather silly mistake, and they should fix that

Yea I just came back to my game and was completely baffled, thought someone had stolen my account somehow. Are we going to get our old saves back soon?

No, old saves are overwritten unless you have done a backup by yourself.

How do you get rid of this stuff?!

Delete your chars? Sell the items?

Actually, it's quite simple, for the characters, all you have to do is simply delete them, but for everything in the Forge/Item Box (this is of course if you don't want to have all that money and start from scratch like I did), you first must sell everything, and then convert all your mana into crystals, then, go into a level, drop all of the crystals and quit. Do not complete the level or go back to the tavern, immediately quit the game and go straight to the main menu. This will get rid of everything on the ground without selling it back to the bank. By doing all of this you will have gotten rid of everything on the save file from the developer. There is no way you can get rid of all the trophies, sadly. I wish I could reset the entire game, as then I would have te satisfaction of getting all the trophies myself.

To get Steam achievements you have to play on Ranked.

To get ride of all the achievements (trophies) on Open/Local:

Version A
  • Start Steam in Offline mode
  • Open '.\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dungeon Defenders\Binaries\Win32'
Note: It's the path for Windows user, I don't know the path for Mac user.
  • Delete 'DunDefHeroes.dun' and 'DunDefHeroes.dun.bak'
  • Open '.\Steam\userdata\<user id>\65800\remote'
Note: It's the path for Windows user, I don't know the path for Mac user.
  • Delete 'DunDefHeroes.dun'
  • Start Dungeon Defenders
  • Create an Open/Local game
  • Create a hero
  • Close Dungeon Defenders
  • Restart Steam in Online mode
  • Start Dungeon Defenders

Version B
  • Disable the Steam Cloud for Dungeon Defenders
  • Open '.\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dungeon Defenders\Binaries\Win32'
Note: It's the path for Windows user, I don't know the path for Mac user.
  • Delete 'DunDefHeroes.dun' and 'DunDefHeroes.dun.bak'
  • Open '.\Steam\userdata\<user id>\65800\remote'
Note: It's the path for Windows user, I don't know the path for Mac user.
  • Delete 'DunDefHeroes.dun'
  • Start Dungeon Defenders
  • Create an Open/Local game
  • Create a hero
  • Close Dungeon Defenders
  • Enable the Steam Cloud for Dungeon Defenders
  • Restart Steam
  • Start Dungeon Defenders

If you have done it correctly then a message will pop up saying something like 'Your local files differs with the ones stored in the Steam Cloud'. Simply press on 'Upload local files to the Steam Cloud'.

Note: Your heroes on Open/Local will be reset if you are going to verify the game cache. So don't forget to create a backup earlier.
