What is Redux? Returning Player!
Am a returning player, seen REdux mentioned in a few places but not actually sure what it is, a rebalance or redesign? is there a full changelog compared to current day Dungeon Defenders? thanks!

Redux is a best version of the base game. It's sort of a conversion mod, but is official. It adds new difficulties, qualities, towers, tower balancings, and so forth. All in all it changes up the game. Like giving squire/countess a AoE tower. Giving apprentice and adept a status effect tower. Giving summoner a literal boss as a summon. Not to mention the ascension difficulty being a real brutal time, but rewarding players with two new gear qualities up to void. I'd highly recommend it, especially for returning players, as it's literally just more game.

sounds pretty great to be fair! how does it work with existing saves? all my characters are in the Ranked Online so i could pull them into local play, but would they be compatible, or is it a fresh start?

Sadly existing saves are not compatible, it will force you to have to start with nothing. No mana, no stored equipment, and no leveled characters. Not even trophies.

there are worse things i suppose!

new take on DD with new characters makes sense, and besides i was looking into returning to this game and bringing some new players with me, so it'll be even footing for us all!

Sorry to post again! just signed into Redux and all my characters are available in ranked online... if i load one will it break the saves?

Sorry to post again! just signed into Redux and all my characters are available in ranked online... if i load one will it break the saves?
Really? Weird. When I originally converted over not to long ago, even my ranked characters were entirely gone. I have no idea then.

They allow a one time Trendy transfer to redux, so you can take your DD1 characters and get full access to them in Redux, it only happens for the first log in though.

Redux may be more game, but DD1 got an update in late 2022 and Redux's last update was what 2020?

Yeah I think it said in the patch notes somewhere that it will no longer happen in the latest versions, but on the other hand some people say it works just fine. Its really weird.

you can have both installed on your pc but you need to copy the original dd1 folder to a new location and set up a new short cut to it
then have steam install redux

im also a returning player, does the redux version come with the steam base version or do i need to download it somewhere?

Right click Dungeon Defenders, hit Properties, hit betas, and open the drop down box, there you'll find Redux.

Just discovered this, very interested in diving in.

Does anyone know if steam achievements work in redux? I was hoping to get all the achievements at some point.

Redux has been halted since the main game started being updated again because the community division between Redux and vanilla was to large
