The rest skill stats, improve depending on how many points you put in to.
And yes, the "law of diminishing returns" does apply to stats as well. But going by your game hours, you won't be feeling that law apply to you, for now.
To add to what others has said -- at Level 100, you have 985 skill points available.
Usually the trend is to dump all the points in 1 single skill stat. For example if you are making a builder, then its usually suggested that you put in all your skill point into tower-damage. Of course this is assuming you have gear that helps balance out the other stats.
This how you should prioritize your overall stats(including that from gear), for builders:
Summoner -- Damage -> HP -> Rate -> Range.
Apprentice -- Damage -> Rate = HP -> Range.
Squire -- Damage -> Rate -> HP -> Range.
Huntress -- Damage -> Range = Rate -> HP.
Monk -- Damage -> Range = Rate = HP.
EV -- Damage = HP -> Rate = Range.
EV( or Squire) Wall Builder -- HP -> Damage = Rate = Range
Jester(Yea Jester towers are good) -- Damage -> Rate = HP -> Range.
Apart from Monk & Huntress towers, most of them follow a similar pattern.
