Propeller cat? Guardian pets? No special stats needed, just good pets, although player HP and resistance is useful for nightmare to avoid dying too easily.
A boost monk is a better option for propeller cat though imo.
I have a boost monk at the moment but obviously requires me generating enough mana in order to keep my AB1 running through a genie, whereas I'm looking to see if having a summoner with two buff pets is a more viable/effective option.
However, the two things that can make a summoner a superior choice is A.) ability to mostly afk and B.) farming armors in survival mode. Just put apprentice guardian in one pet slot and huntress guardian in the other. You might be able to play interesting games with the monk guardian but I haven't really played too much with that (mostly to do things like increase trap or aura sizes to ridiculous values). One big benefit of this would be saving DU, reducing # of auras and/or traps needed on a map especially if your monk builder currently has mediocre aura radius. Oh one other benefit I suppose to the summoner - You don't need to build up gear except hero HP and resistance. A really good tower boost monk needs a lot of gear. I had to get my tower boost to 4000 to get 300% boost.
When I've used tower boost monk to clear hard content generally running out every couple of minutes doesn't make me wipe, but if that's a concern you can always run two tower boost monks so that when one turns off the other activates to cover that 20 second gap. There could be instances where the 20 second gap could get you into trouble though, like for instance the Djinn rush at the end of moonbase waves in survival - for this just make sure TB is ready towards the end of the wave.
I have my main pet summoner as the #1, a tower healer as #2 (With a Dijlinlet pet and an imp free dps and mana even if in a corner, his armour is hits, resists and flash heal) and it comes in handy sometimes to have a source of dps to kill a stuck mob. He will also usually keep one set of auras and traps at about 90% health, and can fix the odd tower hit if something gets through your defences.
#3 and 4 are both apprentice/hunter guardians, hits and resists and stand close to different defences usually.
Not too expensive to gear up, just pick up some reasonable DPS armour (upgrades, 4 resists, hits and AB2) and bam. Save your good drops for other toons, they just need to be able to survive a hit or two, like spash damage from an ogre ball. Flash heal spam (3 every 10 seconds) can be a wonderful thing if something goes wrong to get to the end of the wave, so it may be worth getting them all to at least 1k if you can.
Tower boost: Around 4x boost, depends on your boost stat.
Guardians: Around 2x boost compared to a buff beam (huntress + apprentice together)
Tower boost and guardians stack, so together they make about 8x boost, which is pretty OP.
Yeh I stacked the two to accomplish my first wave 35 NMHC moonbase survival and was getting some obscene dps and even 80 million HP ogres were dropping in seconds lol.
