I purchased the complete edition(with all DLC) 2 weeks ago and I am having a blast, there is a ton of content to discover even though I mostly play solo.

Once you've played this game for 297 hours playing solo will get pretty boring. Thats why I was wondering if anyone is still playing online.

I thought it was dead when I first started playing, so I played offline only. Right when I started to get bored, I decided to check if anyone was online again. I've since put in hundreds of hours. It's not dead. It's not the most active game out there, but there's almost always a handful of open games. There are still updates and events in the works, as well.

Sadly Trendy gave the game over to some community devs, so Trendy isn't really in charge of the game now. However, some of the changes by the community devs were pretty nice and they fix some bugs. I believe they are testing a beta out right now, so we should expect another update at some point.
Now onto your main question. Personally I only play with a friend online because we just started fresh and are re-experiencing everything again. However, I do see some games open every now and then. Most people seem to play Privately. You can try making your own game, limit (or dont) the level so people can join with their characters, and it can be a fun time. Communication is sadly limited to using the chat box haha.

I was hosting/joining matches in January everyday without trouble, but i was playing witht eh "High end" community, lvl 100's(me included) and so on, i would return, if i hadnt played everymap NMHC 1000 times.

Its pretty dead right now. Average 100-150 players. And you'll barely find any decent lobbies these days, especially for high to end-game levels.

There will be some more player traffic after the next update arrives.
