Xbox 360 controller support? or patch/mod available
I have OF dragon rising on xbox and PC. The PC version once updated to version 1.2 i believe you can use an XBOX 360 controller with it, which makes it so much easier for use of extra keys etc. I have tried to get the controller to work in Arma and i cannot. SO.............

Does anyone know if Arma Cold War Assault has xbox 360 support?

Or if i can download a mod or patch somewhere to make it work?

Try using MotionJoy. I used that for my PS3 controller on PC, and I'm pretty sure there's options for Xbox controllers.
Although, I'm not sure why you'd need one for this game. What do you plan on using it for? I think you'd have a much better experience using mouse and keyboard alone if I'm honest.

Ive always said mouse and keyboard is loads better than controllers. But since ive owned an xbox i find it so much better using a controller (with controllers now having dual sticks)

My controllers work on my pc i have a wireless receiver and drivers, i cant get the triggers to fire or use the sights or scopes for some reason. But they work with driving the truck.

Is motion joy just for getting the controller to be accepted by the pc? or will it solve my problems on the game do you know?

Arma 2 has xbox controller support (i realise this game is older)

What I meant was - to really get the full experience - you need the precision of a mouse and keyboard. Sure you may be able to play with controller but you'll never be able to react as quickly as with a mouse :)

Thats why i always used to hate controllers, but i find them so much easier to use now. And yes the extra half a second can matter a lot for reaction time, maybe i will have start using mouse n keyboard again.

Good luck with giving orders and controling the battlefield on controller LOL
You guys are dumb, you do know this game came out on the original Xbox right? That used an Xbox controller and it worked well. It was called Operation Flashpoint: Elite. They changed the name on PC to Arma though since the people who made this split off to make Operation Flashpoint and Arma.

Actually you're the dumb one here tmladd - get your facts straight before you roll into a thread insulting people about things you clearly don't know. This is straight from wikipedia:

Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis, sometimes shortened to Operation Flashpoint (OFP), is a tactical shooter and battlefield simulator video game developed by Bohemia Interactive Studio and published by Codemasters. The game is considered to be a spiritual successor to Gravon: Real Virtuality. The game uses the same engine, Real Virtuality, as the military simulator VBS1. It was released on June 22, 2001 in Europe and August 30, 2001 in North America.[1] Set on a group of fictitious islands in 1985, Operation Flashpoint puts the player on one of three sides in a hypothetical conflict between American and Soviet forces. The Resistance is the third playable faction. Two expansion packs were released; Gold Upgrade, which included Red Hammer, a campaign from the Soviet perspective, and Resistance, which introduced various new features and improved graphics and sound effects. An Xbox port was released in 2005 under the title Operation Flashpoint: Elite. Operation Flashpoint was praised for its attention to realistic combat.

In 2006, Bohemia Interactive released a sequel called ARMA: Armed Assault. It is based on an improved Flashpoint engine and it was released under the title ArmA Combat Operations in the United States on May 4, 2007. ArmA: Armed Assault's successor ARMA 2 was released on June 19, 2009.

A game titled Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising was released in October 2009 by Codemasters. This game was not developed by Bohemia Interactive, who had reserved the exclusive right to develop sequels to the original Operation Flashpoint, and released a statement that "it is not right to promote this game as the ‘official sequel'."[2]

In June 2011, Bohemia Interactive re-released Operation Flashpoint as ARMA: Cold War Assault, as Codemasters retain the rights to the 'Operation Flashpoint' trademark. Owners of Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis and the Game of the Year Edition may download and install the latest patch for free,[3] and the game is available for purchase via a number of digital distribution channels.[4] This release does not include the Red Hammer expansion, which was developed by Codemasters and not Bohemia Interactive Studio.[5]

What he is saying is that Operation Flashpoint (the original) was ported to the Xbox (the original) under the title Operation Flashpoint: Elite. Obviously, for that game to be ported to the Xbox, it had to use the Xbox controller, proving that the game can be played (and enjoyed) using a standard controller and not just using a mouse and keyboard. Yes, people understand that a mouse and keyboard gives you access to more controls and better aiming, but there are people out there -- me included -- who just feel more comfortable using a standard controller for gaming, even if it means a slight handicap in terms of in-game abilities.

OP, to answer your question, what you're looking for is a keyboard-to-controller program. I use a program called Pinnacle personally which has allowed me to enjoy PC games that I otherwise wouldn't enjoy because they lacked controller support. Thanks to this program, I'm able to enjoy Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory on my PC as if I was back in 2005 playing it on my Xbox again. While the PC version does include some controller support by default, for whatever reason, the triggers on the Xbox 360 controller do not work, hence the need for a program like Pinnacle to enable them.

You can't get the functionality out of a pc controller that you can with keyboard as there are no Fkeys for control. That and the fact that the game was designed to be played with a keyboard & mouse.

I guess it's the same as a stick shift vs automatic. Sure you can get there in an automatic, but you're going to miss a lot of the driving experience.

Wow thats amazing i will have to try that out. Can you use both sticks for movement? As this is where the older games struggle you can move around but cant look around.

Finnally an actually answer rather than a load of nonsense

I used to hate controllers because not as quick to respond etc. i always used keys n mouse, but recently since owning an xbox 360 (1st console ive owned since i had a master system and a mega-drive lol) ive now got a wireless dongle from china that connects my xbox 360 controller, its suberb.
