Also: don't never ever set the terrain detail to max.

That setting would really need a fixing of the memory subsystem in the game to be of any use because it will either stutter like mad or give you the "out of memory" error.
Plus, the missions that come with the game weren't actually designed with anything more than "normal" terrain setting in mind - tanks, cars and other vehicles will *not* move normally with high or very high terrain setting, they will just jump around like crazy and it's also harder to spot enemies.
It's more of a "future tech demo" option if you ask me. It does look good from a distance, mind, a form or early software tessellation.
