Are there "classes"?

I usually like to play as a mage or as an archer, but in this game it seems there is only one "class" - a character with a pickaxe. Is that correct? I played this game only for a few minutes, I'm not sure if in the future I can play as a mage or an archer. This game seems fun, but I didn't like the gameplay of the pickaxe "class".

The only thing that you could potentially consider to be similar to what you are looking for would be different builds, you can target throw/swing/bomb builds by restricting your relic pool, but otherwise there aren't classes in this game

"Builds" is probably the more correct term, as you're not necessarily restricted by your choices, but people's natural tendencies in the game will normally lead them to keep building on stuff they initially focused on. You can focus on swing damage/speed, throw damage/speed, crit, bombs, health, defence, etc. But yeah, there's no weapon classes. Just the pickaxe.

might wanna check out Stoneshard. its still a bit low on content since its early access but whats there is pretty polished and neat.

Relics = your power ups. Your upgrades. Etc. Things can work with your pick axe. Learn to throw it then if you're the mage/ranged player. Then get stuff to upgrade your throwing.
