Pilfer Guards = I'm Lost (Spoilers)
Hello everyone! I started played again since a lot of time and noticed this new room like a swamp with pilfers. I know they like gold, but talking with them having 500k gold doesn't work. I've read in the wiki the first step that is donating 100k gold to the fountain but here comes the big question, "How did you know what to do without looking the solution?". A lot of people said in forums, ohh you need to do this, then do the other but how in the hell they know that! Do the game gives you hints about what to do? How do I know that fountain is related to pilfers? Nobody is going to spend 100k gold without knowing the meaning of the fountain. This is like TBOI, trying to get the "Lost" without looking at wiki and being blindfolded, in my opinion is extremely hard or I'm extremely dumb. And no, I don't hate developers making this puzzles but please, not all players easily resolve hard stuffs (including me). So that's the main problem I always have in several games, How do I find the solution to puzzles if there's literally no hints or they are extremely tiny and sometimes undetectables. PD: I love this game like I love TBOI. Many Thanks by the way!

Hey so Im actually the one that wrote that article on the wiki so if youve got any questions im happy to answer them but basically the way I found out what it does was relatively simple, firstly you can look at the pilfer gaurd dialog, if you talk to them multiple times they will eventually give you a hint that they are looking for a donation/want more if you put too little into the fountain, also you can look at the fountain, as you dump more and more money into it the state of the fountain changes and theres a little noise/rapport is given when donate the full amount. But the main reason we found out it was related is because they were added in the same update (1.1) previous to the update the fountains did not exists so when they were added it was pretty clear that they probably had some functionality in relation to the update, however it is much harder to find additional functionality for objects that already exist in the game, like for example if they added some sort of mechanic where you can brew a potion in those green vats that you find in the all potion rooms/alchemy lab It would be pretty hard to find, youd probably have to stumble into it. But personally this is my favorite thing to do with this game, when a new update comes out I rush to find out everything there is to know about the update and usually Im not alone there are a bunch of us that hang out in the https://discord.gg/undermine #beta-branch channel and you can actually go back and read through the conversations we had while exploring that update if youre interested (I cant believe the beta for that came out almost a year and a half a go, crazy!) If you have any other questions or feel like I didnt answer your question fully let me know, Id be happy to say more!

Well, your answer was excellent, but one thing I tried was talking to the pilfer several times but no new dialogue appeared and you're telling me he says something about donating to the fountain (maybe 4 times talking wasn't enough), but aside this I have no more question because is fun to look for every secret or puzzles without guides. The one with the pilfers was the only thing that didn't understand. PD: Many thanks for answering and congratulations for using your time to write articles to help players!

4 times talking should be enough, but that dialog only apears if you donate a small amount to the fountain and then talk to them, its very implicit though not explicit

Ohhh I see, that's why the new dialogue didn't show up, I donated 4 times 25k gold in different runs but never talked to the pilfer when donating, I feel dumber know. Something so small and didn't noticed.

I have a question:
I donated 30k gold in a previous run to the fountain so far.
Do I have to donate the full required amount in a SINGLE run or is it possible to accumulate smaller amounts over multiple runs?

Edit:
I have donated 30k in a previous run and now 95k during my current run = 125k total.

The only thing I know is that you have to donate 100k in a single run (doesn't accumulate over runs) and you get something you have to take care of something called a "rapport" as Xeapnea said, the problem is that rapport is related to pilfers so you can't damage any pilfer or the rapport breaks and this last till you reach the fartest floor of the new pilfers zone I believe, but I haven't seen anything else so I don't know what's coming next. I haven't even entered that zone yet, because as far as I know, is where the hardest enemies appear.

Xeapnea, if you read this, I found something about the Empty bottle price, I write everything in a notebook to make my own guide and saw that Empty Bottle cost 2.000/5.000/25.000 but in the wiki says the price goes 5.000/10.000/25.000 I know isn't important, but maybe is a bug and the developer didn't noticed.

Only in one run, amount does not transfer between runs

Rapport is not required for your first completion of the bog, only the second, you can actually lose rapport prior to entering the bog and still get in at caverns 4 too so 100k paid for a lost rapport is not a wasted run if its your havent beat the boss yet

Okay, thank you very much for the answer!

Don't forget that if you lost the rapport by accident on a floor, you can quit your game and return since the game is saved at each floor's entrance, this makes the task far less frustating =)
