Quests

I've done many quest so far up to the point after the third boss. After that boss you're taken to the room that has the mage and a knight and you have to use the key you got from the boss to progress into the mine. I've beaten 3 run throughs and there is still and Exclamation mark on that room in Halls 4. I have talked to all npcs i have and nothing is changing. im missing a person in the hub on the bottom left underneath the store. Am i missing something? it is very irritating that i can't progress with npcs. Any help would be appreciated :)
