Feedback - Game Trolls too Much
Would be interested in hearing other players thoughts on this. When I first started playing this game, I thought it was funny that you would be put in a room with 2 keys and a useless pillar that you, as a new player, would spend a key on to get nothing back.

However, as I progressed further I realized that this was not just a few funny things here and there throughout the game, it was literally the ENTIRE game. And it just becomes boring and un-fun. Like where are my cool things that I find due to spending my hard earned resources effectively? Why do I have to go through 3 secret rooms in a row, spending a bomb or two each time, only to find a room with a bomb in it? This is no longer humorous nor entertaining, it's just a, "yeah, that was useless and a waste of time" moment.

I don't think players play to get trolled constantly, they play to find fun things and upgrade their champions so they can progress further. My feedback would be to dial back on the excessive amount of trolling (I mean to the degree of an 80%+ cutback, that's how bad it is) and add more cool things, like power-ups or even just treasure rooms to reward the player.

Do other people feel the way I do?

I feel somewhat the same way. I love the game, i've really been enjoying it and have been having fun taking down the bosses and seeing how far down I can get each run etc. That said, the "haha, you're screwed" moments seem to happen a LOT, and it's often not due to any mistake on my part.

Essentially it too often feels like I got screwed by RNG, not by any mistake i've made. If I can't learn from a death, it was just some random "haha, screw you!" then it's not fun, it's just an artificial way of adding "difficulty" (though again if it's not based on player error it's not really difficulty, it's just a random kick in the nuts).

Thing is since the game is randomly generated it's easy for a bunch of nasty stuff to combine in an even nastier way to create death traps. The devs can protect against that somewhat, but not completely. The one thing they can scale back a bit more easily is the curses. I can't sneeze without getting a curse in this game, and seeing how nasty some of them are it can be a little annoying.

Still gonna keep playing though lol, it's a great game despite certain issues, and I understand it's a roguelite/roguelike and is supposed to be on the nasty side.

Agreed, the curses are insane, it is basically never worth the trade to take on one for a blessing (nevermind the 2+ that they sometimes try to offer you). Kinda dumb, because once again you just walk off and say, "that was a waste of my time".

Actually, it's almost always worth to take blessings for moderately upgraded peasant. Curses are temporary, you just need to survive until next altar/talisman/holy water (expanded pilfer shop with transmuter helps greatly). Usually I have at least 7-8 (and sometimes as much as 13-14) blessings on top of starting blessings before fighting Noori, and no curses at all.

Oh interesting, I haven't made it as far as you and for where I am (and the game so far) it has been annoying. So, maybe the balance is taking a little bit away from the top end and adding more to the early game.

The phrase "trolling" is a bit loaded. I assume that the secret rooms, chests and their contents are generated with some amount of randomness. I think one can make an argument that the game could be a bit more balanced, but it's also one of those things that's hard to judge in the first weeks of early access.

Curses are punishing but there is also greater access to blessings as you progress. I am adopting more of 'wait and see' attitude as the game is progressively enhanced.

This game is a little heavy on noob traps.
-Chest aren't worth a key but generaly worth a bomb
-Little capitalist girl games are scams but her special shop (paid in bombs, key or HP) is good
-curses are (generaly) % maluses while blessing are (generaly) flat bonuses (not sur on this one)
-only accept curse if you can remove it (cost increasing HP)
-removing curse is First In First Out, don't pile a random curse on a small curse, it will be very hard to remove
-Galoshes of setting yourself on fire is a big no-no
-crafted item at the smith will cluster item pool, don't try stupid items
-potion of antimatter is bugged or a very bad idea

And last but very not least : swinging pick axe is for cleaving small rats or mining gold. For every thing else you need to kill, throw the damn axe. Melee damage will obliterate you.

Agreed on the trolling. Find a hidden room, spend a bomb on a hidden room, open a locked chest with a key... and it's trapped.

So you're punished for finding a hidden room by being out a bomb and a key.

Lame and un-fun the first time, lame and un-fun enough the tenth time to make a note about it.

this sounds like complaints from someone who hasn't gotten very far into the game. i ensure you these are really only issues for your first 10 hours of the game and i'm being generous there. basically in the early levels just never waste time finding the secret rooms unless they give you one of the enemies that can break rocks and walls in which case abuse those enemies to break all the rocks and walls in the room (because there's a very very good relic you can only get randomly when you break stones). unless you've gotten lucky and have like 8 bombs or keys, it generally won't be worth it to use those on the secret rooms. do this until you have dibbles shop upgraded and the pilfer shop upgraded so that you don't really have to worry too much about bombs and keys

I just solved one of the puzzle, but I have neither the bombs nor the keys to open the chest I got as a reward. :'D
Everything you mention is stuff that is either a puzzle or improved via upgrades -

The locked pillar puzzle is a crazy one, apparently 1 tile gives you a chest, 1 gives you an item, all others give nothing.

Curses feel horrible.. until you unlock the inverter... then they are cruise control for op runs.

Only thing that bugs me is trapped chest spawning from a puzzle that consumes resources lol.
