Oh, we forgot to mention the other big change from our recent game update:

The game is now localized into Korean!

There is currently no way to change this while in VR, to avoid accidents, but it can be changed by a spectator/operator using the on-screen buttons.

We've just pushed out a new update for Planet Protector VR. Our store page screenshots won't match these just yet but the core game is still "shoot aliens, protect the city".

The update is focused on better support for OpenVR / SteamVR devices as well as bringing some optimization & code changes due to a change in our Unity engine version upgrade.

We've finally released a preview of the game's overhaul.

This new version of the game is built from the ground up for computers. Yes, the previous version was essentially the Google Daydream version of the game. This means the graphics are improved a bit, there's more going on in the game in some parts, and the controls should feel a little nicer.

There's still a lot to work on and we're looking forward to feedback on this version of the game. Let us know what you think!

We've been taking this version of the game around to conventions & expos throughout the year, starting with RTX Sydney 2018 in February. Conventions like that, Supanova, and even various tech & highschool fairs have been a great place for us to get feedback to make this game even better as anyone's first step into VR.

Unfortunately, some features of the game did get stripped out. It's mostly temporary. Things like the flycam & helicopter cam will come back soon, as will the screenshot feature. For now, you just have to enjoy on the gameplay in VR!

We'll be updating the Steam product page screenshots & videos in the lead up to PAX AUS 2018, so if you don't have 10 minutes to play the game, you'll still be able to see all of the cool new stuff really soon!

Hey all! Sometime soon, we'll be releasing an overhauled version of Planet Protector VR.

This overhaul comes from player feedback at RTX Sydney 2018 and Supanova Sydney 2018, with the overhaul specifically being tested at Supanova.

I don't have many screenshots to show at this time, though I can happily confirm a few little points:

• The game runs much, much smoother now.
  
• The game looks much, much prettier (bye-bye smartphone limitations!)
  
• The game has a variety of new enemies to play against.

This updated version of the game will come to Steam soon - I'll make another announcement soon before that happens, but I'm looking at a July/September update for now.

I know this has been our only update so far -- development has been slow due to other work popping up. I'm grateful for all of your support, believe me!

So it's been almost a fortnight since the game's launch - we've let things simmer and settle, and now it's time to reveal the next stage of our early-access process.

First off, if you're attending PAXAUS2017 you'll see Planet Protector VR live & ready for players at both the AIT (Academy of Information Technology) booth and the AIE (Academy of Interactive Entertainment) booth throughout the weekend.

As a solo dev I'll be bouncing back and forth between the booths, and the game will be running all weekend at AIT's booth and for half of the weekend at AIE's booth. Feel free to drop in to either booth and grab some epic stickers and other cool game loot!

Secondly, this game is in early-access and its development is still ongoing - so here's the plan!
--- RTX SYDNEY 2018 ---
An updated build of the game will launch in time for RTX Sydney 2018. We tested out this build at PAXAUS 2017 and it went really well, so development there is going smoothly. We'll keep testing out new builds at local expos & conventions, and then push them online once they're ready. Keep an eye out for that!
