I am told, as Mutilatedpuppet indicated, that GoaT was inspired by Redwall and as far as I can tell features similar overall gameplay but I'm reading between the lines here.
Ghost of a Tale is a pseudo stealth and puzzle kind of adventure game that's been out for well over a year now through early access. Though it's not a pure puzzle kind of game like say Portal or anything geared towards that. It has puzzles that feel more like they're there as a means to get to the next part of the story then being put there to force you jump through hoops to continue. Some "puzzles" in Ghost of a Tale can have multiple ways to bypass them. Need to get information on something specific? Spend some money to loosen somebody's tongue, find the information on your own, disguise yourself to trick others into thinking you're very important, do some pseudo blackmailing to irritate somebody, or perhaps just do a favor for a favor in return to get the help you need. So most of the puzzles there don't feel railroaded for the most part. And when I first mentioned it being a stealth game, they put an emphasis that you're not exactly a character that can defend themselves (well), so trying to outrun your pursuer and hide like in Outlast is your best bet. Though you can do some defending on your own by using some enviornmental items to slow them down or knock'em out. Found an empty bottle, well grab that to use it as a distraction or chuck it at a hostile person's head to put them to sleep for a bit. I'd reccomend looking up some gameplay videos of the game so you can get a bit of a better understanding of how it all works since the game is growing and getting bigger and more refined with it's large bi-monthly updates. For now in the most basic of explanations i'd say it's like a hybrid of the stealth in Outlast and some puzzle working with multiple ways to figure them out from RPG's like Divinity Original Sin 2.
For the Redwall game, this game is so extremely underbaked at the moment that it feels like a tech demo of what they would like to put into the game. So for this Redwall game I can't give you a broader definition of what the game is asides my review of it since there just isn't enough content right now. The one forest area that the game has right now has puzzles that feel a bit restrictive since it forces you to complete them in one specific way despite appearing to be something you could figure out in a much easier sense in a variety of differnt ways.
Really? That's a cool bit of lore...I'd never heard that.
LOVED Nimh!
he says he takes inspiration from ico zelda etc, and in the game youre trying to find youre wife merra. Other than the fact that it follows a mouse in medival times it has little to do with redwall.
hes kind of a big deal haha. you can read a lot about it on the ghost of a tale forum. Ive talked with him few times hes a pretty down to earth person.
Bummer. Well, I hope they develop it more soon. Looking forward to exploring both worlds in full!
Just going by reseach on this game it looks less pretty but a lot longer
Current sale price for this is very generous and if the game remains this easily affordable, on and off, I'm sure to grab it in the near future.
I didn't realize until now that NIMH was part of Redwall but I guess we can easily say that Seith is another mouse fan. ha ha
In GoaT you're a male mouse bard and you've been locked in a dungeon for sleeping around with the Baron's wife (if I read right). The goal of GoaT is to find her and escape with the help from a couple or arch-rats and brother / sister thief team who you also free.
