Please fix it...was running perfectly before the update...
We already patched the language issue, please do reinstall if it is still an issue for you.
//Zyddie
also jfc you nerds will ♥♥♥♥♥ about ANYTHING
NOTE: trying to launch vanilla Gothic just hangs up. The "update" also hung up. had to open Task Manager to force "Gothic.exe" to shut down.
NOTE: Don't try to launch game until after "G1Classic-SystemPack-1.8.exe" is installed
NOTE: no way to force game NOT to update like a few years ago. Why, Valve?
NOTE: Don't try to "verify" game content after applying mods
1) Download "GOthic SystemPack 1.8"
https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/1723-gothic-systempack/
2) Steam->Gothic->Properties-Betas...roll back Steam to "OriginalRelease"
3) "VERIFY" game just to be safe
4) install Gothic Patch 1.08k (run "gothic_patch_108k.exe")
5) install gothic1_playerkit-1.08k.exe
6) install Gothic1_PlayerKit-2.8.exe
7) install G1Classic-SystemPack-1.8.exe
8) Gothic should launch now!
9) Change Gothic game settings
(hit "Enter" after changing resolution as going "back" won't do it... audio to 44Hz, Keyboard to "Alternative" for W,S,A,D keys.. I use "CTRL+W" to pick up stuff while running around with W,S,A,D + mouse)
RESOLUTION Notes:
a) cut scene size shrinks as res increases
b) if not fullscreen, ensure either monitor scales by aspect, or video control panel set to scale on GPU by aspect (applies to other games too. if in doubt, just set MONITOR to scale by aspect and nvideo driver to perform scaling on MONITOR.)
c) anything BELOW 3840x2160 maximum res without issues? (higher ones cause me cursor and flashing HUD issues)
d) if CURSOR won't go away, may need to restart game (save if needed)
10) VSYNC works fine for 60Hz monitor.. no screen tear and locked to 60FPS
(if you have GSync/Freesync may wish to cap at 60FPS if you get issues. no idea but many older games do get problems at higher FPS)
11) extract, then copy and paste "G1 TextureMix by ARTstuff.vdf" into "Gothic->Data" (steam->steamapps->common) folder.
Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/gothic/mods/9?tab=files
12) verify textures changed in game (i.e. grass should be much different)
11) NVidia Control Panel-> Manage 3d settings-> "add game" (after closing Gothic)...enable "FXAA" for anti-aliasing (helps a lot), and 16x Anisotropic filtering which may or may not do anything... SAVE those settings (AMD users as appropriate)
12) KEYBOARD... small learning curve. I have to hold "CTRL" before pressing other keys. And MENU to move items around is a bit weird. Are CONTROLLER tools but I think keyboard/mouse works best for this game.

Just a little black screen and back to launcher.
Here's the log: https://pastebin.com/Th6D6fRw
Seems playing back video file is causing the problem (opening binkw32.dll)
And the same question for Gothic II. The official Russian localization is already available on GOG, but for some reason is still not available on Steam.
