Gothic 1 Classic

Gothic 1 Classic

WTF with prices?
Rating: 1/10

As a long-time fan of the Gothic series, someone who spent countless hours in Khorinis and Myrtana, I’m deeply disappointed by the direction the publishers have taken. These games are a cornerstone of RPG history and hold a special place in my heart, but a 130-208% price hike is an absurd cash grab and a slap in the face to the fans who have supported the series for decades.

Raising prices for old games, widely available during sales, at a time when most of the community is eagerly awaiting the Gothic Remake, feels like blatant exploitation of nostalgia. I understand the need to make a profit, but actions like this don’t build loyalty – they alienate new players and betray veteran fans.

What’s even more frustrating is that in Poland – where Gothic is a cult classic – the prices are even higher than in Western markets. Charging 91.99 PLN for a single game that used to cost 39.99 PLN shows a complete lack of respect for the fans.

THQ Nordic, wake up. Nostalgia has its limits, and this approach is destroying the goodwill and fond memories the original trilogy created. If you think fans will rush to buy Gothic Remake after this outrageous price hike – good luck, but count me out.

WTF is going on with the prices?
Dear THQ Nordic, what the hell were you thinking raising the prices of all the Gothic games up to 130%, without any particular reason? Real d*ck move, something EA, Activision or Ubisoft would do. Nice job with crapping all over the gamers' trust.

I wouldn't go that far yet, but even if it turns out to be a great game, THQ is doing great job in discouraging people in getting interested in it.

they pray on the fact that people will want to consume more gothic ask type games after they played the remake, smart buisiness move, terrible way to grow an audience.

Glad I got them all many years ago. Ridiculous price hike for these ancient games.

It's all in preparation for the Gothic 1 Remake. They hope that new players are stupid enough to buy the original games for whatever reason, and didn't know that those were half the price or even less.

You increase price ok, but give us already that patch with native widescreen, achievements and controller support from switch.

Its triple in come countries.
I was about to get the 3-pack for 19.99 USD and was waiting for a sale. Saw it went up to 39.99 and removed it from my cart. Really unfortunate. Especially for these older games that need so much tweaking to be playable these days.

They did. Would be nice if they brought over controller support from Switch soon.
