Hello everyone,

First off, I want to thank each one of you who purchased Square x Square. This little 2D local-multiplayer couch game was my very first complete project, and your support has meant a lot to me. It helped me learn and grow as a developer, and I truly appreciate your patience and encouragement.

I’m writing today to announce that Square x Square will be transitioning from a paid title to a free game. This change will take effect on 24/Jan/2025

I created Square x Square in Game Maker Studio 1.4 a while back, and while I’ve never released any major updates for it, it remains a cherished milestone in my journey as a game developer. I’ve been focusing on new projects since then, and I’d rather let more people experience Square x Square for free than see it languish in a paid tier without updates.

If you’ve already purchased the game, thank you for showing your support early on. I plan to recognize that support in the future by considering you for special offers when you return to check out my other titles. I’m still working out the details with Steam, but I want you to know that your backing won’t be overlooked.

Timeline: The shift to free will happen on January 24th, 2025.
Future Projects: I’m focusing on new endeavors, so keep an eye out for updates on upcoming games.
