Glad to hear you're excited and intrigued by BFF or Die :) We don't have any plans for online multiplayer. Instead we have an engaging 1-Player mode in addition to the local multiplayer mode. Both are played offline. 1-Player mode is pretty challenging so we think it will keep fans of PC puzzle/action games interested and engaged.
Cheers,
Shaz (game designer)
Thanks for posting that info :) We've not used Parsec before but will definitely check it out. If it works well, it sounds like it could be a solution that would enable loads of great games to be played as if online multiplayer.
It's def a game that's nice as a shared experience. If it's hard to get friends together in the same place then mayeb Parsec could be an option for you. So far it seems good, although I'll have to do some more testing with it. Make sure you sort out group voice chat though with whatever you normally use. When playing BFF or Die with other people you really need to communicate to win.
You can now play online with friends in two ways. One is to us Steam's new "Remote Play Together" feature as described in this post: https://steamcommunity.com/games/652360/partnerevents/view/1555357052120912542
The other is using Parsec as described below:
As a summary: we won't be adding native online multiplayer support BUT you can play BFF or Die as if it has an online multiplayer mode by using Parsec. We wrote a post about how to use Parsec here: https://steamcommunity.com/gid/103582791462498339/announcements/detail/1682551398073335474
@Darkness - Thanks again for telling us about Parsec. I did more testing and was impressed enough to get in touch with them and have a chat. So now BFF or Die is in their list of curated games :) And we're happy to recommend it to people who really want to play our game as an online multiplayer with friends who live far away from them.
