Some tips for new players of the English version

• Make sure to steal as much and as often as possible (with Shi Yan or Fatty Yue). Shi Yan requires money to recruit each time, and she leaves your party whenever she is severely hurt in battle. She might not leave if she gets one-shotted, though.
  
  
• Only learn arts you definitely want to use, because you might run out of art slots eventually (12 active skills and 6 internal arts each person). This is mostly a concern for the major characters, as they have access to a greater skill pool than the rest. Save some space for supreme arts like the Mahā́ Śiva-dhāraī, the two volumes of the Nine Yin Manual, and Nine Yang Divine Art.
  
  
• Don't be afraid to use items to boost Gu Yuexuan and Jingji's stats. Gu Yuexuan in particular is the core combatant of your party for the entire game.
  
  
• Each of the four basic attributes grants a special effect to the character once it reaches 80.
  
  
• Trigger the Chong-Ling Sword Art quest by talking to the Huashan disciple training alone on the top left section of Huashan Sect as soon as possible, as you won't be able to trigger it later on.
  
  
• Bring Fang Yunhua along with Ren Jiannan with you to the unmarked Dongfang Bubai's tomb. Search near the coffin to the bottom right in the area where the boss battle took place.
  
  
• The youth wearing a blue shirt that the Jianghu rumors mention is Dongfang Weiming.
  
  
• Don't forget to introduce your teammates to Old Hu in Xiaoyao Valley so you can get items to have a party together later in Hangzhou.
  
  
• Wuxia Zi can teach Gu Yuexuan and Jingji new skills if they reach certain training requirements.
  
  
• The Sword Saint has unique dialogue and interactions with some party members that you can use to challenge him (try Fu Jianhan). Save your game right before meeting him for some interesting insights.
  
  
• Bring Taya to talk to Xu Ziyi after she finishes reading his book (reach level 10 in the internal style).
  
  
• Be mindful of instant loss conditions during special battles, especially in the battles involving Xiao Fu and Lady Meng. Make sure to read the instructions to the battle with Mahāmāya (Yidam) and Gata (Hetuo) carefully.
  
  
• There are certain environmental elements that you can interact with, but some require certain conditions to be met (specific skill, stats, character, etc).
  
  
• There are many guide-dang-it side quests that may lock you out of certain rewards or events throughout the game.
  
  
• There's loot all over the place. Try running around and pressing enter if you think you might find something.
  
  
• If you pick Fengdu in the beginning and win, you get talents with these effects:
  Jingji: If critically hit, the next outgoing attack will critically hit.
  Gu Yuexuan: Automatically replace defeated teammates with undeployed party members.

  If you pick the Cult of Tianlong and win:
  Jingji: If he is the only unit on your side left standing, every outgoing attack will be a critical hit.
  Gu Yuexuan: Chance to perform combination attacks with teammates when teammate is/teammates are nearby.
  
  
• Solution to the cave puzzle: do so la re mi (13243)
  
  
• Solution to the problem posed by the fortune-teller in Luoyang City jail: beheading ("Cut off head")
  
  
• Jiang Wang's riddles: 21443
  
  
• Chengdu quiz answers: 33132
  
  
• Speak with the gate guard on the right in Luoyang multiple times to see what happens.
  
  
• You can press TAB to switch your character in the overworld and press F to see a recent text log.
  
  
• As others have mentioned, having Yan Yu in your party boosts your "Perspective" gain and having Jiang Yu in your party boosts your experience gain.
  
  
• There is a northward path covered by some grass on the Island Hidden at Sea (this part drove me crazy for quite a while).
  
  
• Before taking part in Beichou's play, make sure to make Wei Ziling and Jingji as weak as possible (take off their gear and equip bad internal styles).
  
  
• Use the Tale of Wuxia: Prequel trainer by FLiNG if you would like for an easier time through the game.
  
  
• Add the line JumpMovie=true to ...\steamapps\common\Tale of WuxiaThe Pre-Sequel\launch\TaleOfWuxia.ini to enable skipping cutscenes with the Q key.
  
  
• The game's version number on Steam is 1.0.2.2 at the moment.
  
  
• Fatty Yue is important. Don't neglect him if you want the best ending. SPOILER ALERT: Have him in your party for the battle with Prince (Duke in-game) Sai (not to be confused with Wanyan Ke'er'ke, his son) in his underground stronghold with his default internal art at mastery level 10.

Regarding the eastern Ferry and Shui PanPan; i can't find the snowy mountain inn you're talking about...is it the Secret Store in the Snowfield? If it is I dont see a boatman there

Fatty Yue can be recruited in the nameless grave. Once you get to the map you can find him trapped in some device and starts his quest. Its really short and gives you a nice art.

I got an art book from Wudain(the shaolin monk who drinks) but the text said it would be good to return the art book to him? I wasnt able to find him but is this related to a better Shaolin art?

I am pretty sure you cannot because the poisoner expected someone to cure and set a trap inside her body.

It was explained in the broken english.

Surpisingly I was still saddened by the scene specially when she talks to bu dong at the end about the butterflies. (remember Bu Dong really loves butterflies).

Not too sure if I understand what you mean by the golden bird/black crow event. But will keep a lookout for it. I'm still pretty much in the beginning of the game (where I have to visit Shaolin, Wudang and Huashan)

When u go into the waterfall cave ( starting quest) and go into a screcet route to another area. There is a spot where u can plant experenice seed . So when an event that talk about golden bird, you can go collect the seeds. You plant 1 seed to get 9 seeds. But if the black crow event appear mean the birds eat ur seeds therefore u lose 1 seed. This thing can be repeated as long as u got the experencie seed.

Sorry I only play the game in chinese. Therefore I dunno what english term they use in the translation.

I would probably recommend shen xiangyun the girl in the blue dress @ wangyou valley.

My exemplary picks would be shi yan @ forest (pay her 10000) and bu dong @ south shoalin temple IIRC. They have realy nice synergy in combat.

Might be possible if this game has multiple route like the first game did. But i don't think it does, just slightly different endings. I tried to use different characters to heal her and both time same result. First time i tried with the emei-panpan, shaolin-budong and wudang Gu shi, after they failed to heal her Gu shi said something about how he wasn't strong enough and was sorry. So next try i used the other wudang Fu something instead, but still failed. I thought maybe if there was another shaolin i could recruit and use (adult one) maybe she can be saved, but i think budong is the only recruitable one, i don't have all the characters yet, so maybe there is.

Found the material for yitian sword. You have to get rumour of enemy got a odd piece of gold, then you got to encounter the same enemy on the map. Then you use fatty yue or shi yan to pickpocke until you get western exoticium. A bit of farming I guess

Shen Xiangyun is useful early in the game because she can join you pretty much from the start. She is quickly outclassed by Xiao Fu and Taya though.
Some teammates with low potential for growth: Shang Zhongren, The Anthomaniac (Floriculturist), Shen Xiangyun, and Feng Chuixue.
