You can add more realism by adding poorly manufactured fittings from offshore companys trying to save money. From rl exp a 90 degree may be 88 degrees on the face and not fit. I have previous experience in plumbing/piping and we used to have to throw out fittings that were made wrong. It would annoy people but thats what sells games now :)...
