- Not really, the game will fill you in anyway.
Is it really in third person like it is in the intro video?
- Yes, non-VR is in 3rd person camera, VR is in 1st pperson inside the cockpit. Some cutscenes take place inside the cockpit. Take note, unlike your typical 3rd person camera, this has a lot of dependency on the lock-on.
Is this typical Anime or is it actually good?
- Typical anime, probably, but not teenage pilot trite terrible. People complain about VA/trabslation, it seems decent to me, but English is not my native language, so who am I to say otherwise. There is some deus-ex-machina elements in the plot too. The presentation and action cutscenes with mechs are decent, IMO.
Since it's not really touched on, can you upgrade the mech at all? Is there an RPG aspect to the game (E.G. Levels, exp, classes, upgrading aspects, etc) or is it just hack n slash or button spam?
- No, you cannot upgrade.
The mech gets new subweapons and versions as you go along.
It has a levelling system which no one knows what it's for.
If you are looking for an Armored Core style game, look elsewhere.
This game is pure, simple action.
HOWEVER, it's the most fast action I've ever seen going on in video games.
The mechs are very agile, yet strong.
Slashing is very satisfying.
The combat doesn't have much depth, it's just slash/shoot or grab, or use subweapons, but you also have to think fast some times and there is a very small degree of fighting tactics involved.
Thanks for all the info!
I'll throw it on my wish list for when it's on sale then.
