Raft
Raft Mod loader blocked by chrome
I get very nervous when I have to download odd programs from the internet that autoupdate. I especially become nervous when chrome tells me it's dangerous and won't let me download it. Is this really safe and is there a way around the chrome blockage if it is?

It should be safe. It just isn't a signed .exe so chrome thinks it's bad. You can download it and scan with virustotal.
So, it set off internal protection on firefox, chrome, windows defender, and my malware protection software. I won't download it and I think it's highly suspicious.
on 1 website its a trojan virus so be safe
same here, anyone knows how to solve this?
Hmm. I just bypassed Chrome's block to download the modloader, and when I tried to run it, Windows told me it found malware and removed it. That concerns me.

So now I'm wondering if there is a way to just manually add mods to the game, like you can with NexusMods? I only tried the modloader because it seemed like it was required to add mods, but if I can add them without it, I think I'd be more comfortable with that.
That was my issue also. Every single malware protection I have on my computer flagged it.

By going into Chromes privacy and security settings and choose 'no protection' option in the safe browsing tab. You only have to turn it off long enough to download the launcher and then you can turn it back on again right away.
Antivirus false positives are the most common issues we deal with on the Raft Modding Discord server. We've even got a handy guide to add Exceptions to your AV (we do NOT recommend 'turning off' AV protection, as the internet is still a spoopy place, and most AVs don't shut off completely, even if they say they are)

The reason behind the false positive detection involves the old memory injection method of adding mods to the game. Memory injection is used in both malware AND legit applications, and most AVs get really cautious about such things. (Again, the internet can be a scary place)

I've used raftmodding and the launcher well over a year, I believe. Had no problems with it. I can't remember if Chrome threw a fit when I first got the launcher, or that I had to turn anything off. I have Chrome on Standard protection, can't recall any instance where I had to change it.

I've had Spybot Search&destroy, Bitdefender AV, a couple other AV's I've tried out, Windows Defender, Anti-Malware (both from IObit and Bitdefender)...none of them have warned me about the launcher or any of the mods I use. I've done spesific scan, and all files came up clean.

I'd like to believe the files ARE as clean as my programs say they are. Of course I'd like my PC to be secure, without having to be sceptical to everything. The internet is indeed a scary place.
