Yeah, actually. At least then I wouldn't feel like I just got handed a 20% off coupon at the company t-shirt store for 10 years of service.
The gear added at the end serves no purpose, and adds nothing to the gameplay, being at the end of the game. Even the backpack, which is unlocked earlier at Utopia, serves no purpose, as you get it after completing and looting the area. These are upgrades that shouldn't be here. You don't even get the titanium sword until after beating the boss. What's the point of having it? There is no new game +, there is no continued story, and no possible use for any of those items - Congrats you unlocked new items, but this is the end so don't bother with it, you'll never use them anyway.
To add to it, the tools are cool, but ultimately worthless in earlier gameplay as they are expensive to replace, it's easier to just go with the regular metal gear you unlock at the beginning.
