Let the net from the net gun work on Screechers!
Like it'll pin the nasty bird for like 5 or so seconds before it can break free. Giving you a bit of chance to melee attack him. Maybe even a way to shoot him out of the air and that could keep him trapped for like 7 seconds.

I just think it would make fighting them less of a total pain in the butt. They are the only enemy so far I actively don't like to combat.

That would be hilarious and still difficult to deploy, so totally worth it. Also screechers are painfully boring to fight as is so any comedic injection would be worthwhile.
