Raft

Wood stack size needs to increase, guys.
This game is amazing, relaxing, fun, and I can't wait to see where it develops.

However, there is one thing that I simply can't understand the dev's logic on and that is stack sizes. The most criminal of it being wood. You need wood for everything, it is basically what moderates your progression speed, yet a stack lasts you about three building tiles or items and a steak.

This means you material invetories can never be balanced, because 50% of the slots would need to be wood and those stacks are spend in more or less three clicks.

The mid-game would be immensely more satisfying if wood would stack up to 50.

It's not so bad later on when you are no longer building a lot, but the small stack size of wood takes a lot of fun out of the expanding and building your raft, especially in multiplayer, where the wood-imbalance is actually also multiplied because survival basically has a wood cost per minute, so saving it up becomes stressful rather than fun.

Make a Large Storage, you will have all the space you ever need

Large storage won't help much, its only twice as many slots as a "normal" chest. And it will cost you a lot more to make. Titanium is not easily found early game.

I'd love for stack sizes to be increased, to at LEAST 50. Preferably higher. Bit tired of having to fill my raft with storage chests, because they can't take that much.

It's not about that, it's the relative use of what you get for using up one inventory slot. Everything costs so much wood that the stack size of 20 is just annoying.

I'll give you another example where I think this has been done badly: Shark Bait.

Shark bait does not stack at all. So if you want to explore an island reef above a certain size, you might need two or three shark bait to fully do that and keep the shark baited away. That's three inventory slots, either on the player or on the raft, to explore one island shark-free. It should stack up to 3 or 5, otherwise it's just hardly worth it carrying around or even pre-making and storing. And nobody wants to spend five minutes fishing every time they were about to jump into a reef, especially since a fishing rod costs over half a stack of wood.

Again, you can build a backpack and fend the shark off with a well-timed attack, but the point is that the stack size desicison just seem out to inconvenience the player. I don't mean challenge -- just, you know, whatever the opposite of quality of life is. More juggling, more crates to look through, more inventory management.

-- Yes you have a good point there because wood stop all progress where almost everything cost wood and after a time we ended up with "crazy amount of plastic" as we can`t use at anything.

By the way a stack with 20 wood don`t bother me because i am short of wood all the time but i understand your point where we are able to collect much wood after we have build out ours raft to max size and where some of us prefer to store a big amount of wood who take up several storage chests to make a big extension at once and now we have several chests who is empty who again take forever to fill up and we get more and more usuless plastic on the way.

-- What the developer really need to do is to add at least 15% - 20% more wood to the debris and to the trees and they need to find out what we gonna do with that crazy amount of plastic in the game which just grows and grows and almost nobody like to throw any resources in any game.

-- Solution for that crazy amount of plastic is to melt them and make oil out of it and use them as fuel to ours engine.

The only crazy amount I get is Palm Leaves! I just end up throwing stacks and stacks of it overboard, and still have 2 chests full :|

why store many useless leafs, just throw them overboard

They are still used for crafting, especially the new stuff, I'd like to keep some of it. I'm just getting TOO much.

I made a suggestion about palm leaf where we should be able to place them in a compost bin and remaker it to soil and on this way excess palm leaves can be used.

That's a good idea, and they could maybe also be used for Biofuel. Palm oil is a real thing, after all :) Unless they don't want to be THAT politically incorrect, though....

I thought about it when i made that post but did not write it down, since you mentioned it I added it.

I think trees would be a great way to offset the high wood demand vs the relatively low wood floatsam by giving significantly more wood than they do now and at the same time it would make even small islands instantly more interesting.

Still gonna suck on bigger islands where you have to go back every other tree because wood only stacks to 20, and the high-percentage-of-a-full-stack-demand will still make it suck to save enough wood for more than 4 foundations/walls.

You can`t collect everything on a island in one time as soil-muchroom - berries - friut chests etc... before we have the backpack who gives several new slot so i am forced to do a little planning to avoid extra trips and by the way a extra trip do only take some few minute and what is few minute when we have played several 100 hour.

Yes the demand of wood in this game is crazy where people is forced to sail around hour after hour just to collect wood and throw anything else to the stages is start to be boring.

Of course this is not a problem for those who choose to build a tiny raft but who wanna do that when they know what they are capable to build.
