on the bigger islands it could make the game a little better, check -- could, if you were miles away from your raft and a nice cosy little spot was available you could , much later in the game, place a little tent down and stick a bed roll in it so you could save yourself stumbling around in the dark.

something else to make and use.

it wouldn't stop the rocks from the screecher or the ground hog wrecking it and your sleep but you would have to kill the boar and the screecher first.
a little wood camp fire also so you could cook the boar meat that would normally be available or would be nice if it was.

if you set up the small camp fire on your boat the tile would burn and disappear unless you had a milk bucket on you to get some sea water and douse the fire.
