Cold biomes with icebergs and blizzards

Right now the whole game has a rather tropical theme.
I think it might be cool to have some more variation in the landscape.

The first thing that jumps to mind would be cold biomes, which require furs, wood stoves and such to survive and keep up your body temperature. Miri down below had some nice ideas about cold weather survival.

Random icebergs could drift around at will like rafts, with a chest or polar bear on them. If you get to close to the iceberg, the polar bear will become angry and swim at your raft to damage it, and you.

Blizzards could kill off plants, damage the player, hurt visibility and require the player be in an enclosed cabin to survive.

Of course, a quick succesion of tropical and arctic biomes isn't very realistic, but who cares; It could add a nice challenge and some difference in the decor.
