i have a full BF (biofuel storage) and just connected a ABG (Advanced Biofuel generator)

The generators as far as I know are to replace the batteries needed to operate things, I could be wrong, I just used a mod to make the batters last forever, I got tired of making more.

The advanced biofuel refiner produces biofuel just like the small one. It's mostly a convenience, you spend less time running back and forth adding honey and food and taking out biofuel. You can hook it up with pipes to keep engines and battery chargers full. I think if you have a large raft with more than one engine it's more beneficial. The negative is the pipe layout isn't flexible, and you'll probably have a mess of pipes in your way.

For the batteries, try the windmill battery charger, with the advance batteries. Works great.

the advanced refinery will also fill up your tanks if all connected - i specifically watched for it on my raft. I think it will fill up it's small storage last so first the tanks fill then the small one attached to the advanced refinery will fill.

Being able to pipe it directly into your engines instead of having to run around with cans definitely saves a ton of hassle
