Raft
Beginner help
Howdy fellas, I play raft on PS5, and have just started (<10 hours playtime). And I have 4 questions.

1. Do more sails make my raft go faster
2. Is there a way to get creative without it being frozen in place
3. How do I effectively defend attacks when raiding reefs
4. How to view in 3rd person

1. no, one sail is all ya need.
2.never messed with creative so idk.
3. park raft far enough from reef that the shark will stay by the raft, make shark baits to distract them, or kill the shark. not completely harvesting the shark(such as leaving the head) will give you more time till the shark respawns since the game has to wind down the corpse decay timer first.
4. not sure there is an option. maybe there's a mod for it?
1) More sails doesn't give more speed, it just makes it harder to turn before you can build the wheel.
2) No, you can't play creative in story mode. Use it to test out how you want to build things, but if you want to do more than sit in the middle of an ocean you will need to start up a normal version of the game.
3) The shark always stays near your raft so try to leave it to one side of an island and hope the other side is the one with all the resources.
Also, build a spear. The basic wooden one is only good for fending it off, so grab all the sand and clay you can so you can start on metal production. Once you have metal spears the shark quickly goes from a treat to a reliable food source.
4) Look in settings. I forget what the button is, but I know it's there.
I'm not sure if you can access mods or not for console, but if you can there are mods that can make the animals passive including the shark, and one where you can spawn stuff in including the stuff you havent unlocked yet.
2) Creative mode is for building, not exploring.
4) 3rd person view and no clip isn't currently advisable on consoles.
The Devs have it on their list to look into.

The other two questions have already been answered by the others.

Do more engines make my raft go faster, or Is it just for torque?

Also when do I unlock battery chargers and biofuel pipes
It's just torque. You'll see that someone handily chalked on an engine (it must have been you, who else could it have been!?) that 1 engine = 100 foundations. So if your raft has less than 100 foundations, 1 engine will be able to move it. Up to 199 foundations, you'll need 2 engines, etc. But you only travel at one speed, regardless. Not enough engines means you just don't move at all, you'll see the engines stuttering if that happens.

It's ONLY foundations, btw. Any other floors higher up, or other constructed items, don't count towards engine need.

Battery chargers, on Caravan Island, fuel pipes on Balboa. Check all the shacks, although you actually have to to get past the island, so perhaps you missed a blueprint.

There's no shortage of copper, though, so batteries are never a problem for me at least. You can keep the dead ones for when you eventually get the charger.

If I place my farms in a closed building, will birds still eat the crops?

Crops are safe if you farm them indoors.
