Spawning Off the Raft After Joining World?!

For the last several months I've encountered an odd situation when I first spawn on the Raft after joining the world (hosted on another computer in the house) and the game loads. Instead of spawning at the spot on the Raft where I was when we exited the game previously, I now always spawn somewhere out in the water instead!

The respawn location varies. Sometimes my character's body is split in half by the water-level deck (our Raft has four levels of deck) where the top half of my body is above the floor, and the bottom half is under the floor. Other times, I end up spawning out in the sea at some distance from the Raft or in the water UNDER the Raft! In the latter scenarios the Shark is usually very close and quite eager to take a big bite out of me, so I find myself having to swim for my life to get aboard (generally batting around .500 on that score!).

Anyone else seeing anything like this?

have encountered similar before, usually when the raft is moving while you're loading in it might hiccup during connecting to that game instance and put you at your last known location in the world instead of where on the raft you were.

Yes. This is common. If the raft has moved since you last played in the same world, this happens.

Been a issue since 1.0 but for some reason they decided its us not them.

Thanks to all who replied! This makes sense. Almost always we are in one of two scenarios when I leave the game:
a) the Raft was unmoored and sailing out at sea;
b) we were moored at an island but then my wife (whose computer hosts the game) goes on without me, does some choring, and almost always weighs anchor and either goes to some other island or puts out to sea.
Not sure why the dev doesn't put a fix for this on their to-do list but, hey, a small nit in an otherwise engaging and entertaining game!

same here - the most frightening spawnpoint was unter and in tongaroa basement - inside the textures of the building :(
