Cant build wooden floors on the second story
Yes I am sure I'm not trying to use the foundations. There have been several tiles when trying to build a second floor where the game refuses to allow us to build.
Yes it has support beams to allow it, we can build around these "ghost" tiles but not the tiles itself.

EDIT:
Here's a picture with colored tiles to see where these ghost tiles are placed, the radar towers were added later and we have tried removing them again to see if that would fix the no-placing issues without success

May try,
move raft to a different location, distanced away.
Save. Reload.

Check ' surrounding ' for ' placed object ' even if it is not that close to it, lag/ collision in hitbox may deny the placement.
Large objects like engines, fuel tanks,... etc have hitbox that obstruct certain rotation and elevation.
Rotation helps usually.
if all the above are checked.

Might need removal of all currently adjacent pieces, nearby objects,
focus to build that floor first.
A fresh rotated pillar, then build beams around it, should now be able to place that floor, build out from that.

Due to you using the word ' We ',
multiplayer vigorous movements may cause ' some ' physics problems due to lag, stutter and latency,
experiencing ladders that can't climb but walking thru it, falling through floors,...etc.

just sharing, if it may help.

I would suggest removing/replacing the existing support beam or adding another (short) support beam on another edge of the whole. Most of the time I could remove that additional beam afterwards without further damage... Not sure what causes this.

None of this helps sadly, and we were focusing the floor to begin with so its very frustrating that we cant fill in random holes in the flooring

Like mentioned in the post, we are allowed to build around these ghost tiles so in all we have a floor with 4 random holes in it

Seems like the host going singleplayer did fix it, such an odd bug but oh well!
