There's a pretty decent unofficial mod community, one of which being an item spawner that you could use to spawn all the blueprints so that you still need to research them. To be honest though i used very little of the high tech stuff. I built all of it, but didnt really use it.
You'll still need to complete story missions to unlock the other random biome islands though.
A fun playstyle might be to build a little sail boat and not use any sea trash, only use resources you gather on land. See how far you can go without a full sized farm and production facility.
From what I've read, using mod to change the game mode to creative and back also unlocks all research so you can build everything researchable if you have the materials. Just be aware that as far as I'm aware, this can't be reversed afterwards.
Then you hit Utopia... do all the damn jumping puzzles 3 times then a fight and game over.
My friends and I were all pumped when we got the advanced batteries and all the electric stuff to use them on but by the time we got em the game was pretty much over.
With that being said I love the game so much that I would gladly give this company more money if they were to expand the game with DLC. *nudge nudge wink wink*
Yeah, i was hoping i could new game plus and bring some newbie friends in and just use all the decorations and junk while they play through
I like this idea.
I'm assuming they either have, or had, some plans for either DLC or a "raft 2" given the loose ends at the end of the story, although they did spend a *significant* amount of time on the dialog for the epilogue which did feel like a "last hurrah" so who knows. I wonder if we'll ever find Sanjay.
Right now I'm trying to find Captain's Island as i found it on my hardmode save in the first hour (then died) and have not seen it again in 70 hours. I didnt have the reciever built, so maybe it only shows up in the beginning?
I also have 6 hidden achievements, so presumably there's 6 non-trivial things to find/do. I'll see if i can find those on my new save without looking them up.
A New Game + would be fine or reset the game without resetting the achieved blueprints etc.
I've done the creative to survival switch on a couple rafts and it's true you start the game with every blueprint learned and no way to undo that. I've also used mods to give the resources needed to build a nice raft at the start and then clear my inventory and turn off mods to play through the game. I've found the second way to be more fun, especially if you want to play solo in normal mode (I play games to relax so never play any in hard mode), starting out with a medium size raft that is armored around the edges can make the start less tedious but you still then have to find everything and build up.
I think I've played through the game 4 times now, mostly just to see how the various rafts I've built look when parked at the various story islands.
