How do I build a new raft?

A shark ate all 3 remaining pieces of mine in one bite, and now I don't have anything. How do I start a new one to replace it?

Hit "ESC", select "Main Menu", then "New Game."
Once the raft is destroyed, that's it. Game over.

or you could go on the GRUELING task to go craft a hammer to build a section of your raft and get enough to build a section while not trying to die from the shark.

The new piece needs to be attached to an existing one, so...

Hmm, in all my hours of game play I have never seen the shark kill more then 1 piece per attack.... But yeah, if the raft is completely destroyed, like mentioned above, that game is over.

What probably happened was he had an L-shape raft as he mentions three pieces. The next bite then took out the corner connecting foundation leaving 2 diagonal foundations that could not exist on their own and so they were also destroyed.

When I have pieces that become detached from the whole, they stay there. But could happen I suppose.
