Foundation Armour Questions

I have some questions about foundation armour:

-I have seen some controversies but some were a year old; Where shall I use foundation armour?
-If I do the switch from wood to solid wood will the armour stay on it?

1.You used to have to armor your entire raft.
That has been changed however, and you now only need to armor the outer perimeter.
Openings in the center of your raft, such as for the anchor for example, do not have to be armored.

2. *edited* I checked. I remembered wrong. The armor stays when you upgrade. It was paint that didn't stay (unless they have since changed that.)

Only fortify border of your raft, the inner parts cannot be attack by shark. When you destroy a fortified tile it will not refund you fortify materials only partially what's used to build that tile.
