Raft
against the wind without motor!
Hi !
I'm stuck on RAFT because I'm at the radio tower and I programmed the code to go to vasagatan. the problem is that I have to sail due West and the wind is blowing due East!! The wind does not change in this game; I watched videos of players and I know that's where I would find the plan for the engines. in each video the code is different, that means that vasagatan is not always in the same place depending on the game, isn't it? How to do ?
thank you in advance.

Hello, yes the code is different for everyone, there is no reason for concern

Sooner or later the island (storyline) will definitely appear next to you, don't worry about the wind blowing in the wrong direction

Thank you for your answers
but it's been several days (in the game:steambored:) that my sail is in the right direction and I can't see anything in the binoculars. :steamsad:

I can clearly see on the radar that I am moving away from the destination. I don't understand why the DEVs didn't anticipate this situation.:steammocking:

in reality, we can go upwind in a zig zag

Don't worry, the island keeps respawning if you get a way to far from it, i would suggest you keep an eye on the receiver, if you pass the place that you want to go you can redirect your sail against the wind, so it won't move, and then use the paddler to get to the place, i did that and worked for me, build like 3/4 paddler for this. :cozybethesda:

yes!
I loaded an old save and the ship was right next to it!
this does not prevent that there is a slight problem
thank you all and good wind :steamhappy:

Just want to point out, they likely did anticipate it. A lot of things are meant to try to match real world situations (to game standards of course, not saying it's 100% realistic). In real life, if you're on a boat and depending on the wind to move you're not going to be able to go against the wind. You'd need a paddle or engine to do that. And just like real life, in the game if you're depending on the wind you can't go against it, you need to use a paddle or an engine (once you've unlocked it).

Until you get the engine, if you are that far off from the target island I'd suggest just turning off the computer, setting yourself with the wind and just riding it for a while. Take the time to collect things and after a while, check the computer again to see where the next one has spawned.

ok i understand it's not a big problem. it's just that the game forces you to build engines and for that you have to go to a certain place. if this place is only accessible with a motor, we turn in circles.
thank you

You can reach Balboa island, the only location currently designed to spawn in direction that is against the wind from your raft, using paddles if you really want to. I did just that, twice. Be sure to have several stocked up or materials to build few before attempting. Turning sail to the direction of Balboa will help while paddling as it'll slow down windward movement.

If any other story location spawns in direction that is against the wind, you can simply let your raft drift with the wind until you're over 2000 meters from the story location. The story location will then despawn and game will spawn a new one, hopefully in direction you can sail to.

Only Balboa requires an engine to get to.
If you are trying to get to another destination, and it is up wind of you, just keep sailing/drifting with the wind. The game only spawns islands a certain distance from your raft.
Once you get far enough away, it'll just spawn a new one.
Just repeat until one spawns you can sail to.

another note the world is small ( planet is small) and if your keep going one way you will come back around to where you started so you can always get to where you need eventually

Except as mentioned Balboa will ALWAYS spawn against wind and requires a motor.

OP should be able to just keep sailing with the wind and pick up the island when it respawns.

BTW OP, the sun in this game comes from the north instead of east. Might matter when you speak with in-game compass owners.

You have a wrong impression of the real world.
The game is so basic, it has hardly any realistic elements.
