Cannot place stationary anchor

We have plenty of space for our stationary anchor but the game isnt allowing us to place one. The anchor image will only pop up red when i point at spaces that are occupied, but on free spaces it just does not show up at all. Please help, having to build throwable anchor has been quite frustrating. Thanks!

Just to make sure: you're trying to place it on free 3 by 3 place with hole for anchor in the middle?

yes I am aware about the criteria. we could place it down at the beginning but after we removed it to re-position it, it stopped working. pretty sure it is some kind of bug :(

Most likely some multiplayer desync/lag issue. If you're playing multi, have host try placing it. If that does not work, host could try placing it in single player mode. Not sure what else you could try.

I am having a similiar issue, and I am playing Singleplayer.
The red ghost image of the anchor only appears in places where I have stuff (which is why it is red), but in all the other places (I have a really big area left and right of the center) it doesn't show at all and doesn't let me place it.
Weirdly enough, when I place a chest at those empty places, it suddenly shows me the red ghost image, but it always overlaps the chest I just placed, so I still can't place it.
thought I could trick it by having it show where the chest is, then removing the chest and then placing it, but as soon as I remove the chest, the ghost image disappears as well and I once again can't place it anymore.

Yes! exactly my situation and i tried doing the exact same thing. I tried placing it in single player but didnt work either. Ive just continued to use throwable anchor.

When this happened to me I had to place it in a 2 wide hole, then fill in the other foundation after placing it
