can shark eat inner raft
I have all my outside of my raft so he cannot eat it now with Armoring Foundations but was wondering if inside need it to because that would be a lot of metal.

that seems to have been fixed. Our outer edge is armored, and a few inner blocks are not. he used to attack ANY unarmored block, no matter what, but since the update....he ignores anything unarmored inside the outer edge.

So I'd say they fixed his behavior to ONLY attack outer edge blocks. And if they are armored, he ignores your raft.

I did not notice any patch notes that mentioned changing the sharks behavior.

As such the shark WILL attack inner foundations and the WHOLE raft will need to be armored.

If you just armor the perimeter the shark will ignore the armored sections and bit inner sections insted.

Hmm, interesting.

I can confirm lpnlizards for update-11, but as all tiles were armored on the start of update-12 already, i'll test that and replace a foundation in the middle of my otherwise armored raft.

As stated above, Bruce (did) attack(s) from the outer perimeter and if armored, take the next inner foundation from the spot it started to target.

Regards, Kerulon

Previously, if all the blocks of your raft were armored, the shark destroyed random armored blocks, this is now fixed. In theory, if you book the entire raft now, the attacks will stop. And if you only book the perimeter, then, as before, the shark will attack unarmored blocks inside the perimeter.

so whats the use of armor then if you cant stop him from attacking?
should better add spiked foundations then so he gets at least damage while attacking

Armor stops the attacks, you just need to armor all foundations. It takes a while to get all the metal and is considered an end game activity.

You can! It is necessary to reinforce the entire raft, not just its perimeter. In update 12, the shark no longer destroys armored blocks.

I started a new game with Chapter 2 and I can confirm that once I armored the exterior perimeter blocks Bruce no longer attacks my raft at all.

So, don't waste metal to armor every foundation you only need to fortify your perimeter.

So we have 3 informations.

1. If you reinforce the outer foundations the shark doesnt attack anymore.
2. If you reinforce every foundation the shark doesnt attack anymore.
3. If you reinforce every foundation the shark attacks a random reinforced foundation.

And now is the question which one is right.

so if i have a 4x4 reinforced border the 2x2 inner foundations are safe

After the recent update,
shark no longer attack inner foundations/ nets that have surrounded reinforced.
Focuses on furthest outer unprotected.

Did a simple test of having few foundations within an already fully reinforced 54 foundations,
2~3 sharks ignored them.
Some flaws and inconsistency, in shark's decision on ' furthest choice '.

If one values his precious built.
Whats the deal over another few metals.

I started playing the game just after Ch. 2 was released. I've only had the outer perimeter of my raft reinforced since I started expanding it and gathered enough metal to do so, which amounts to several in-game weeks now. The shark has not attacked any inner, unarmoured parts of my raft since, but will attack any new, unarmoured pieces placed on the perimeter. I've even spent several in-game days just hanging out on my raft to see if the shark would attack the inner pieces, but he's left it alone. Really glad I don't have to reinforce the entire foundation so I can use those valuable materials for other things.

In the end, there will be so many of these materials that they will have to be thrown away.

I can confirm the inner is safe. I started a new game on chapter 2 release and have a 25x16 raft. Only the parameter is armored. It has a hole for an anchor and four 3 tile holes for engines and still the shark ignores the raft.

I'd be curious to know if this is a recent undocumented change, or if it's a by-product of the Bruce's rework when his ability to pass through the islands was removed...

My raft has been completely armored for so long I would never have noticed this change. hehe
