Offline play capability restored in the 1.03 hotfix though you will likely encounter bugs like previously.

Offline Play
In version 1.0, we blocked players who were not connected to an internet connection from playing. This was due to certain technical issues that appeared when people were playing offline. However, as we have gotten feedback from the 1.0 release, we have decided to allow players to play offline if they really want to. Now, if you are offline, a warning message will appear, letting you know that some features might not work as expected, and bugs may occur, but it gives you the option to keep playing, instead of blocking you completely.

Ditto.

I've been playing the game for over a year - always offline, but now the game insists that it can't access steam if I have steam in offline mode.

Me too, some hours ago, lol
Make sure you check the confirmation email after as they are asking people to reply to it to confirm that you have checked for answers in common issues and faqs.

Same here as I mentioned somewhere else.

I'm wondering if Redbeet have taken a leaf out of Axolots book, where Scrap mechanic needs to be online for you to load the game.

A good way to make sure people run out of 2hr grace for a refund, because a lot of users have realised you can play offline and STEAM doesn't clock up your game time.

I can't fault Redbeet for protecting their livelihood, but not DMC in the main menu.

steam did a API change or something offline game time is tracked now. That little trick is gone now.

This part though is still a bit buggy on Steams end as yes it does track in offline mode, but if you put yourself on invisible it stops tracking played time.

But then back tot he topic it is indeed weird that you could play offline during the whole period of early access but now with the 1.0 Final Chapter update you can't do that anymore. This either was pushed by the publisher Axolot Games or an oversight that can be fixed. Let us hope for the latter, but I fear it is the first.

I hope this gets fixed. This is a no go for me I almost always play offline.

Always online is a bad move for a single player game, For online co-op sure but for single player it is a no go. Better get this fixed asap.

So here is the reply I just got. Not very happy about this RedBeet. What advantage do you gain by requiring me to be online while playing? I don't recall ever seeing this when I first purchased the game a year ago.

Hi!

Okey, I understand. However, unfortunately raft requires an internet connection to be played. Try removing the offline status and try again.

Best regards,
Redbeet Interactive.

Why can I not play this game offline?
Developers. Give us a straight answer as to why I cannot play Raft without a constant internet connection?

Well, this is unfortunate. It's even more unfortunate that I purchased the game over a year ago in early access, and it's likely far too late for me to ask for a refund.

I am quite disappointed. I would have enjoyed completing this game, I think.

Forced online?!
Why in the ever living hell did the devs decide to force online? "No connection to Steam. Try restarting the game to reconnect" and you can't load a game or start a new one. This isn't an MMO, so why does single player require an internet connection?

*sigh*
*uninstall*
