was timing shark hits fixed?

you used to be able to time your shark hits so they'd swim off and take damage..was this fixed?

Was never changed. If you are in the water and hit a shark before it hits you, it takes damage and swims away for a brief moment before coming back. It's all about the timing.

Works for me jsut like before. Started a new game and been killing the shark to farm under water at the islands no problems.

Thanks, I'll try again! Does the bow unlock with the "bow and arrow" ? I clicked it and only saw arrows so wasn't sure.

Unlocks in the research table. The items needed should be shown there.

You can easily hit the shark on his attack and then chase him and hit him a number of times.... if you are the host. If you are a guest on someone elses game it is almost impossible to do even with a bow and arrow.

it works for me fine. If you don´t move or swim into the shark attack and use a spear, the correct timing for press the attack button is the moment the shark opens his mouth. Easiest is don´t move, than the time window is big enough. And if you turn after your hit and follow the shark you can deal 2-4 extra hits. With a metal spear repeat 3-4 times and the shark is dead.
With a machete it is more difficult, ´cause the range is lower.

You need vine goo so it may not have appeared if you dont have the forge and have cooked some of the vines. Research vine goo and it should show the bow and either unlock it or show any missing research items

Yeah I got it, had been a while since I played and died a few times so wasn't sure if it was me sucking or it got fixed. :D Thanks for the info !!!!

Like others have said, the timing has always been consistent for me, at least playing solo. If you are playing multiplayer though the problem could be latency. Not always, but when playing with some people with a poor internet connection, I've noticed that sometimes I'll have to time my attacks early on the shark to prevent getting hit by him. If that's not your issue though then it's just trial and error. I use a bow over a spear as I find it the easiest to use on him. That's just my opinion though. Best of luck.

Just swim backwards during fight and he will never ever hit you. Still works for me easy

Easiest is to be swimming away from the shark. This greatly increases the window of opportunity from when the shark opens his mouth to when it is too late to interrupt his attack.
