Animals dying while grass fully grown
I had 4 fully grown grass plot and 2 animals on it. At first one grass plot was eaten so I watered it. Three others stay grown. And the both animals died. Is there something else I need to do?

How big is your pen? I find that the animals are a bit...well...dumb. They'll eat waht they wander across, but they dont' seem to go out of their way to food

so if the pen is too large, they might end up wandering around hungry without stumbling over the grass plot

It is quite big, about 20 squares, so maybe that is the problem, I will try to make it smaller, if it helps. Thanks.

If you have 4 grass plots make the pen 4 spaces. That should keep the hungry hippos alive.

that's my strategy, i make the pen size the size of the grass plots, and just expand it as i get more grass

Anyone up for playing some raft with me because I have no one to play with and I am board of playing by my self

My animals have been okay for 40 days. Make sure that ALL of the floor inside the pen is covered with grass. If there are spaces where there is no grass, it'll risk the animal dying. Animals can reach the grass 1 square block on the outside of the pen too. For extra care, I placed it above sea level because the waves interferes with interacting with the animals. I pick up the animals every now and then to make the game register that they exist. I had the animals disappeared once, but haven't had that problem since that one time. Always make sure you water the grass so the grass grows back on time for them to eat.

They seriously need to patch this so the animals will go look for food given if you have a large plot of 8x10 grass squares the chances of them wandering across a food containing square drop with every square they eat, meaning no matter what you do, there's a solid chance of your animals starving. :steamfacepalm:

Agree, it is nonsense that animals die next to the grass...

hi, I have another problem, strange, maybe you can explain to me, I put a lama freshly captured in my pen with my goat and his 10 grass plot, I go back to the island 10 min, on my return the goat disappeared, the lama ate it? ^^ or is it a bug?

My pet clucker died because it kept trying to walk through a rope fence until it died of starvation on a full grass patch. Seriously.

I'm having the same issues. I can't seem to keep my animals alive for longer than two days, and I have to babysit them all day, picking them up and putting them ON one of the grass patches.. crazy.
Then if I go to an island, spend about 10 minutes ther.. I come back to an empty pen, no nametags I could pick up.. so after all the hassle it is to capture them, they just disappear or starve to death next to a grass plot??

for me I do not think he died, on 3x4 tiles of grass plot he was missing only 2, he really disappeared, if he was dead I will have seen his body, but nothing, just disappeared, I do not know if they can climb over to get over the fence ( but if it was that I would have found it in the water) or if we need to avoid mixing the species in the same enclosure, I'm sad it was the rare goat black and white with blue eyes, I loved it ^^

try not to keep them at see level. if there is storm and ship bumping they might end up in the see

they are not at sea level, they have a 1st floor for them and I was in exploration so the raft was stopped without storm, she literally despawn
