How do I get food at the beginning?
I've fished countless planks, pieces of plastic, and fibers out of the sea with the grappling hook. But there was no food. My character is starving because there is nothing to eat. Why was hunger introduced into the game if you don't get anything to eat? In a survival game, there should be a starting zone. Where basic care is guaranteed.

Just take a look to Terraria, Stardrew Vally, Valheim or Core keeper

But back to the topic. How do you get something to eat? Yes, probably on islands. But you don't get there at the beginning. So what solution did the developers offer to secure the basic supply?

In my Inventory was nothing to eat. Do I have to find a way to eat fibers?

if you find wooden boxes in the water, hook them. ther is some food in ther.
make a smal grill to make them more tasty if you grill them.

Make a fishing rod.
Get some fish.
Grill it.
Eat.

You can also get potatoes or beets from barrels. You can grill them for more hunger effectiveness.

I have not the recources to build anything and there are no boxes.

They always swim past me out of my reach. There was nothing to eat in the few boxes I had. I keep reloading the game. The character has 30 seconds to live. In the meantime it is impossible to hope for a box. The developers have to offer another solution? What if you can't get barrels or there's nothing in the barrels to eat. How is the basic service guaranteed? There has to be a solution?

If you can't even make a fishing rod and a grill before you die, It sounds like you need to change difficulty to easy mode for your first playthrough.

1. Do you know how to build a fishing rod?
2. Do you know how to make a grill and a water purifier?
3. Do you know how to use your scrap hook to collect resources quickly?

I suggest u read this: https://raft.fandom.com/wiki/Lyros_Raft_Tips

cheating is not a option.

There has to be a solution?
The problem is this. My bot is stuck on an island. It can't be moved. There are also no resources coming to the island. I am dying of thirst and hunger. Then I lose my resources and I certainly can't build the necessary axles. My spear is gone and so is my grappling rake. I have no wood, no plastic and no fibers or stones. The game seems broken to me. I have around 1,000 hours of play in Core keeper, Vallheim and Terraria. I know that the developers ALWAYS implement a solution in the game. Otherwise the game won't work. I guess my game is just bugged.

Answare is always yes. But I dont get any recources anymore. I can see them fair away out of my reach. I I get lucky one plank then I die and loose it. Also all my tools are lost now.

You can always swim around your raft to grab things, nothing says you have to stay on it, though you do have to then watch out for Bruce, unless you play on peaceful, or have a mod that makes him peaceful. This game is best starting off on easy or peaceful mode till you figure out how to do things.

I did not ask you to cheat.

The game is fine. Stop blaming the game. A lot of people finished the game.

If you don't even have the basic necessities and you're already stuck on an island, I suggest that you delete this 'world' and start a new 'world'.

Just so you know you can swim quite a ways away, if your raft is stuck on on island, but you need to get plastic and what not, try swimming to it, as long as you can still see the island your raft will still be there. Also did you try swimming under the water to get the stuff around the island? There are usually some resources there as well, it's not all on the island or on top of the water. This game is possible to survive, I have almost 150 hours played on this game. While at first it did take a while to get the hang of things, and yes I died alot at first too, it is completely possible to do. If there wasnt such an issue lately with multiplayer, I'd say find someone to play with that can show you how it's done, but lately that hasnt been working so well after the security update.

This is not going to work. If I go into the water that shark will attack me and I die.

I was try to swimm. But here was two problems. Trash is to far away from the island. There is really nothing nearby. And the other thing was the shark attacks me. I die and I will lost the few things I get.

So some say I have to restart a new world. Its totaly broken. The thing is, that will be world 11.
I play over 1.000 hours Core Keeper and Vallheim. I never have this mutch frustration
Partybecher Jan 30, 2023 @ 3:44pm
So I restart a new Game. Same problem. my ship hang on a island and I dont have recources to buld Water and Foot station. Trash is not coming to that island and I can not go into the water. The shark will kill me instant.

Ther must be a other option.
Is there a other way to get food or water?

Start a new world, build a spear first, then build a paddle. The paddle will stop you from hitting islands. The paddle IS the solution, but, this game has a "no going back" part at the beginning of worlds, usually within the first 5-10 minutes if you hit an island without gathering enough resources.

The world isn't broken, you're just bad at it because you don't know anything about it. Take the difficulty down to easy, that way you can learn to play, learn to build, learn to deal with Bruce and you don't lose your items if you die.

You're saying this will be your 11th world? Then you clearly learned NOTHING from the previous runs. If you KNEW you were going to get stuck at an island, build a paddle. THAT'S THE SOLUTION.

I know this game has a few bugs, but, I've never heard anyone say the game is "broken" because they are incapable of learning from their own mistakes. That's a new one for me, not gonna lie lol

I did start a new world (world 11 now) and have still the same problem. Reach an island. Ship hang on the island and there is no trash coming to the island. If I go into the water the shark kill me. I die from hunger and thurst long time before I can build the food or water station

I've played all Dark Sousl parts plus DLC, over 1000 hours Core Keeper, Terraria, Vallheim. Frostpunk and other heavy games. I never had such problems.
I no longer believe that the problem is mine. The game is just not developed properly. The order and processes just don't add up. Someone just didn't think about it.

Why do you still say it's my fault or that I haven't learned anything?
That's not correct. I know exactly what to do. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Craft Hammer, Craft Spear, Craft Water Station, Craft Cup. Equip the water station with 3 planks and fill the water system with water from the sea. Build a fishing rod, build a food station, fish fish.

Correct? You keep saying that over and over again. The problem is that none of this works. I'm starving and thirsty long before I have the resources to do it. This time I miss For example plastic. I can't build a cup for the water.

The problem is definitely not me. The problem is running out of recources befor I die from hunger and thirst
Kathykins Jan 30, 2023 @ 4:44pm
I've played this game through at least 15 times + finished all chapters twice. Restarted several times in the beginning, until I got an idea what to do. Not once have I died because of hunger or thirst. There is plenty of food to find if you know where to look. You can find potatoes/beets in barrels, islands have coconuts/mango/watermelon/pineapple (which will satisfy thirst but also a bit of hunger). Bruce is also a good source of food, so kill him whenever you can.

There should be enough resources in the water for you to catch, by hand or hook, to make you able to craft what you need to survive. Barrels can also contain stones, which you will need to make non-reusable anchors. Craft one as soon as you can, so you can park your raft a bit away from islands. Bruce won't bother you if you are too far away from him. Then you can harvest islands in peace, both above and under the water.
