Raft

The ending of the game is just dumb and it kind of ruined the game for me.
Spoiler alert for those few who care
The idea of fighting some overgrown hyena is just dumb and honestly that whole area took me out of the mood for the game, I thought the idea was just survival not going from city to city, like it was fine first few times, but it just became repetitive real quick, and all that lead to was some mediocre hyena fight, Not to mention the dumb dodge the bombs parts before that. I just looked it up on youtube and ending was nothing special, literally nothing special.

Also, once you are done with Utopia, there is literally no reason to continue on playing, you get all the best items at the very end.

It was originally going to be just survival, but people demanded a story mode, IIRC. So it was tacked on.

I agree about the very last part. You get access to the titanium weapons right at the end of the game when they are no longer useful.

I did enjoy the game a lot, though, and while the ending seemed a little forced, it still provided some closure so I'm okay with it.

It really needs something more to do instead of just upgrading the raft after the story ends. As survival, is really shallow.... its more of a building game than anything else.

The tacked-on story really ruined the game for me, and even more so with the cheesy ending. "Utopia" is objectively a terrible place, the whereabouts of my "sister" is unsolved, bunch of useless characters that I care nothing for, the list goes on. The whole looking for survivors thing isn't necessarily bad, it's just how terribly it was executed that really soured the game.

Now it looks like development for the game has stopped. So probably no chance of cleaning up or furthering the game. Never seen a game have so much going for it during development, only to drop the ball at the literal end.

And now there's a new game in early access "Lost World" havent looked at it much but looks exactly like Raft

It's similar to Raft (obviously as it's Raft clone/copycat), that is, similar to Raft when it launched into Early Access, though Lost World is more bare bones than Raft was back then.

About the final, Olof being in prison with dynamites on him was hilarious, they should've created a new model but didnt even care. I also thought Utopia being way better. At least, way better than Tangaroa, which was quite interesting. Maybe i missed some hints, but was also confused/disappointed the first time I got there haha. But the most weird is exatcly that, I dont know why they arent focusing properly in Raft, its already a good game, i am sure it brought profits to the company and could bring even a lot more if further developed. Its a shame, huge potential. I am always up to start a new save, only to remember after utopia the game becomes lame, no goal besides just keep building.

The story up to Tangaroa was measurably better in early access. Olaf was just a rich guy who loaded his yacht with too many prostitutes and not enough food. Then they shoehorned him into being the evil fat white man out to rule what's left of the world with his army of diseased, undomesticated animals because they thought the game needed a final boss and a racist message.
And it absolutely ruined the game.

Forest is pretty good, it too has an end boss but it's not crowded with 200 puzzles to solve, there is some mystery and the survival part is pretty good and simple.
Green Hell idk, i kinda stopped playing it cause it felt like forest.

I did not enjoy the story islands. They were all some variation of boring find X things.
Wish the game had procedurally generated islands.

If you also want something more childsh kinda of, but insteresting, Grounded is nice. Though I do not recommend buying it full price from steam. Play it using GamePass from xBox.

The game would be a lot, LOT better.

I didnt see anything like that, maybe you are seeing too much about this 'racist' stuff.

I fully agree on how the ending sort of ruined the game, for me at least. After that ending I felt like I was done. I mean, I upgraded my raft with everything i could find, and with the story 'solved', well... nothing left to do, I guess. Because as a survival sandbox the game, well, it sucks. There's literally nothing more to do than you already did during the story. The world isn't as big as I thought I would be, and the islands, after you've seen the big ones once, you've seen them all.

I did get my money's worth to be fair, I had a lot of fun playing it and upgrading my raft and even remodeling it and thinking about how it could be more efficient and such, but after the (very disappointing) ending, that had far too little exploration/discovery and far too many 'kill this big thing to progress'-parts, it was... eh. Over and done.

Such a shame, because the game, the idea of having a raft as a home, the mysteries I had to solve, new coordinates to follow, it was so much fun! I really hope there will be a Raft 2 or maybe some DLC down the line with other story quests like in the beginning, but if there aren't... then I've reached the end of Raft. It was a fine journey and now I'm on to other things.
