The Olof Climax
So this guy's a deranged murderer who openly promises death and suffering for nearly everyone around him and destroyed at least two survivor communities with his behaviour. Why does he just get put in a little cage so he can presumably escape again one day and kill more people instead of being fed to the sharks? After all the bomb-chucking he does to the player and the suffering he inflicts on people all across the story, and the overall dark theme of the setting (the apocalypse, billions dead, the landmasses swallowed by water), it seems sort of... anti-climactic for his big defeat to just be so quickly glossed over and underwhelmingly misdemeanour.

It's especially bizarre contrasted to every other villain you deal with in the game. The bears, the bugs, the screechers, the Rhinoshark, the hyenas even - every single one of them is mercilessly put down and you can make gleeful trophies out of all of them... yet Olof gets a pass just because he's human? Is it not worse that he did what he did out of deliberate, intelligent malice rather than bestial instincts? Why does HE get to keep wasting food, water and lodgings while largely innocent (if obnoxious) animals are happily slain and devoured by the player?

Because the game seems to say killing animals is "fine" if it's for Survival purposes (defense/food); but otherwise.....

It's a very political and frustrating topic, and everyone has different thoughts on "Justice" and "Punishment". The developers are likely trying to avoid making a statement on that topic.

I highly doubt he would be fed in a cage forever, or have any possibility of escape.
.... the NPCs mention "the Council will decide what to do with him" - so the player can imagine their own ending in a sense.
Feel free to write your own lore for what happens to him afterwards. :)

In my mind, the Council gives him a fair trial, with all the lore/evidence found at each story point used against him. He's found guilty, and is given a fair sentence - I will let the readers fill in the blank of what that means. ;)

Hasn't anyone else noticed they let him keep his bandoleer full of dynamite sticks, so he'll probably be out of that cell causing more trouble in no time...
