Raft

Just wanted to say that the game logic is kinda too goofy
So I like play-ability first and logic second. But when the name of the game is Raft and the Sail makes the raft SLOWER and doesn't stack it really starts to feel weird. The endless amount of trash spawning exactly next to the raft and drifting in the OPPOSITE direction is also weird but I guess couldn't be avoided for game play purposes.
Also that you use a plastic hook (that uses a rope but you don't need a rope) to mine ore and metal (or remove it from the sand or w/e) and magically create fire is super weird. At least let the player create the fire making tool ONCE and then let him do that (I like the game-play implementation but not the logic behind it/the introduction).
If you add stuff that goes against basic physics at least tell the people with tool-tips or something. I missed so many basic features because the tutorialization in this game is a joke when it comes to UI and controls (and no UI/controls should not be a mystery that's for the stuff you discover in the game). Otherwise so far it's fun.

So what part of the game is fun for you?

You got a few things wrong in your post. The sail doesn't make you go slower. Not unless you're sailing against the wind, which go figure will make you go slower. Secondly the "trash" isn't drifting in the opposite direction of the raft because it doesn't drift. It stays in place exactly where it is at all times. The only thing that moves is your raft.

I also find it funny how you complain about making a hook without needing a rope while conveniently ignoring your ability to make it with zero tools or your ability to add to your raft using just wood without anything to bind it together in any way. You're kind of cherrypicking your complaints here.

If those are logic problems that actually trouble you, honestly don't play any survival-crafting game ever.

i can only say, stop thinking about the little things so much- somethings in games just dont match real world logic.

Oh really I got some things wrong in a game that explains nothing and follows zero logic, figures. But maybe you also got it wrong going sideways will also make your raft slower according to the wiki. And with a real sail, sailing slightly against the wind is the FASTEST way to sail, so you also got that part wrong. Ofc I am cherry picking some complaints, great that you noticed the pattern though that almost nothing makes sense. As someone who has sailed for many years I just found the sail part the most stupid one. And ok if it stays in place then that makes it a bit less stupid but still not logical (they could have solved that issue by giving the raft more speed via.... a sail so you catch up to stuff drifting in the same direction).

A lot of survival games don't ♥♥♥♥ up basic physics but just skip tedious parts. Ofc none of them are accurate simulations and nobody would expect that unless advertised otherwise.

The game-play loop? My girlfriend I am playing with? And while the stuff is goofy it is functional and game-play first which I can appreciate I just found it a bit silly and lazy since many things could have been introduced/done a bit/ a lot better.

I mean if it's only the little things sure, if it's big things like sailing and a LOT of little things then that's just making excuses for laziness on the side of the devs.

I mean since you guys mostly answer with cynical copium like questions (which is to be expected in this genre I suppose, survival games communities don't have the best rep for a reason and a bunch of really bad games are bought by the 100 thousands) I really want at least to add one thing that I don't like which I hope you can agree on: The color coding of the UI is bad. Every menu element is brownish and features bad contrast with most elements (e.g. the Tools vs weapons both feature two crossed objects that have a very similar silhouette).

Oh and I unsubbed from the discussion since I don't expect any useful discussion to occur so I won't reply anymore, peace out! Have fun playing! (no Kap)

Sailing against the wind with a simple square sail? I always thought that was impossible.

Just a little sidenote: You mentioned the hook, not needing a rope. If you switch to 3rd person view, you can see that you always have the rope on your belt.

edit: hmmm, too late

Your op is just nitpicking, you're getting riled up at relatively mundane replies and people pointing out holes in your little rant (Genuinely think you could've done better than 'my raft goes slower when sailing against the wind.), and you're lashing out at 'the community' because, what, you didn't get a standing ovation for "This video game is unrealistic"?

Fantastic. Just like your thread, don't think anyone asked.

You said it when you said this GAME, dude, this is not real life. What did you think you were doing here? Besides being irritating and attempting to stir whatever pot it is you're trying to stir. The joke here, is you.
