Rules:
1.) They cannot be on the bottom level of the raft. (The receiver cannot be down there either.)
2.) The antennas need to be on the same level as the receiver. (They can be one-half level up or down using those half-raised floors, but I think that just complicates things.)
3.) They have to be more than 2 foundations squares away from the receiver, but they cannot be more than 10 foundation squares away.
4.) They have to be at least 3 and 1/2 foundation squares away from each other (so you won't be able to put them all in a straight line going back from the receiver).
5.) The receiver, which needs a battery, will tell you if something is wrong (wrong height or too close or too far away) and the cables are numbered at the bottom of the table it sits on so you know which antenna is which.
Diagram:
A triangle works best (I think, at least for me). And it would look something like this: The R is the receiver, the A are the antennas, the X's are empty space (this is how mine is set up--I have a picture, but it has lots of spoiler items in it so I didn't want to mess that up for you)
You could move all the antennas much closer the receiver on a small raft, but mine's been expanded over time. If the receiver says one of the antennas is too close to it (or to another antenna) just move the bad one away by one square until you get all three set up and the radar appears on the receiver.

Hope this helps some. Good news, there is a helpful Raft wiki (where I learned about these when I started) out there. So search "raft wiki antenna" if you want to track this down more easily in the future. :)

Yes you are. i've done that on a friends raft. It's a close call, but it works.
