oh lord.. thats so dumb.. i mean the advice is good.. but i guess if ur friends want to join.. u cant have u world "paused" so that does make sense... thanks for the info
enjoying the game.. my dogs are barking.. cause someones at the.. sister suzie.. need to let her in.. and i get back my pc and im dead lol :)
I think I've seen a mod called "Better Pause" somewhere, maybe check if that allows multiplayer pausing?
i found a mod that stops food n water depletion when u hit escape. The game still goes on.. so thats a perfect solution.
yes the game goes on.. just food n water freeze..
It's annoying as hell.
Why bother making everything clientside when the game has to connect to the servers to get the other players involved anyway?
Everything about the game was designed with the assumption that you will play with other people. It's not just the gameplay experience or the interface, it's down at the basic coding level. There was only a limited attempt to make the game function for a single player, and anything that discourages single play without actually breaking it is a non-issue because playing alone is bad.
When you look at it from that mindset, everything makes sense. That's the nice interpretation.
The mean interpretation is they figure you'll connect voluntarily anyway without too much complaining so they can get access to your machine with your implicit consent.
And I'll have to agree with @Trouble - played through twice as a solo and enjoyed every minute of it, without the need of additional people
We're discussing a change that doesn't change what belongs to client- or server-side?
What it is, is a design, experience, and coding that is indifferent to whether the game is played single- or multi-player, and functions the same for both, hence they don't really (have to) encourage or discourage anything or nor they really exemplify any beliefs on the matter.
What we have with the "X can join" menu is just a UI short-coming, just like many others in this game, and in every game. For some reason UI is always way far from perfect, but if it's just a trivial issue in a safe menu rather than a grave issue in a time-sensitive or progress- or money-related element, that's a good way to have an issue if there was ever one.
That they can pull off with other means that are easier both technically and socially, so no, it's not that.
