Annoying parts are: Bruce completely ignores shark bait on peaceful mode. If you want shark meat you have to chase him down the hard way. (but he doesn't defend himself, so that's good?). Also the Screechers being annoying to target is an understatement, I have gone through so many arrows for so little reward.
The new boss is meant to be unskippable anyway but my experience was that it couldn't actually damage me - I was in more danger of drowning - and there is an enemy on Temperance that will attack you whether or not you're on peaceful, but otherwise there's no reason you can't complete the story or get what you need for crafting.
And Bruce....he just swims around with a stupid grin on his face all the time!!
You say the new boss Isn't that the ungly big radioactive hyena???
I have only played in peaceful mode and found the general, chop wood/carry water/level up game played unremarkably okay. I would have never known that the bird is competitively more difficult. I just figured he was for only the most skilled bowmen and haven't bothered.
It is curious, the choices that were made for the story in peaceful mode. Why they felt it was somehow necessary that the battling enemies is somehow integral to the story, I don't see. First off, the puzzles are great. I was pressed for solution, admittedly accepting help, at the horizontal cloth windmill platform sweepers and disappointed that I didn't trust the puzzle creator enough to look for an alternative solution to the obvious. Oh, and the 2nd laser puzzle.. Yep, it's a tough one. I think the story and puzzle are the best feature of the game. Let's face it, or we have and the devs should, the battles, the battle mechanism, whatever that is.... it's something to do, I'll give it that.
So, why they felt that that it would be a bust if RhinoShark, Nuclear Beetles and Green Glowing Hyena were just not there, I'm not getting. Keep the puzzles, lose the violence. The player gets to just walk through, or swim as the case may be, through the last stage and claim the big prize. How much worse is that than the normal grind? How much better? Well, it's better. Then, in peaceful, you don't get the full story, but then, really who would know? And if it's someone that played non-peaceful first, would they care? So, you walk in. Scotty the raving Scottman raves at you, "Get out of here! Wah wah wah!" So you shrug your shoulders and ignore him, , do the crate stacking puzzle, and off you go, the Scottsman whining away as you show him your back and the door closes behind you. Sounds great.
Then you play full game mode, enemies and all, and you get the bonus of big bad guys.
Why, exactly, is RhinoShark, Nuclear Beetles and Green Glowing Hyena some sort of necessary feature that would completely ruin peaceful mode if they weren't included? Heck, I have that RhinoShark carcass stuck in a box under my hammock. It's got no functional purpose and takes up a huge amount of space on hanging on the deck.
You bet, I cheated through the big battles. I chose peaceful mode, not moderately peaceful mode, except the really big bad guys. Kinda like picking god mode, well, mostly god mode but you still gotta collect food and water.
Sorry, devs, but the more I consider it, the more I conclude that it really was the wrong choice.
That's the one and only point of a trophy ^^

Just hanging there with the only purpose of being a trophy :D
I enjoy the battles more than the "puzzles" ... or better called maze madness x_x ... beginning with Balboa Island over Caravan Town, Varuna Point etc. you get the impression that the developer(s) love to create labyrinth confusion :-|
Watching some let's plays of raft I recognized that the seagulls are a pain in the a§§ ^^ that's why I play it in peacefull mode plus "peacefull animals" mod. Is there a mod with which the seagulls get roasted to chicken wings automatically whenever they touch my flowers / plants? ^^ I would love to install that mod :D
Ideally, a mod that allows the player to turn on and off elements and animals.
Ended up with me cheating and using a trainer.
Unlimited crafting of arrows and one-hit-kill. Took me a very long time and a LOT of arrows to finally get him.
The Screecher needs to be reworked in Peaceful mode.
Someone said that they are much easier in battle mode and near impossible in peaceful mode.
I just whish there were some reward, as I suggested in the idear thread, in the form of an empty Island, when finishing the taskes and history, where you could build to your hearts content. Houses and a port forinstans. And that Island should always apear on your radar no matter which koordinates you are sailing whit, in its own color!
That would prolong the gaming time infinite!!
