Raft

Screechers!
After 345 hours, I finally solo killed a screecher. I am completely horrible at this part of the game. Thank heavens my hubby helped me get a few before this. I don't see that Expert Screecher Hunter coming my way anytime soon. It's a race between getting the screecher kills and someday find that dang plane crash (finally found the shipwreck last night) as to which of my final achievements I complete first. What were your hardest achievements?

You don't have to kill them you can just be around as someone does still counts. Bows are different then most others in games.

As somebody who isnt good with stuff like that either, best chance is to shoot it while it comes straight at you with rock in claws, cause it flies at you in a straight line, making the aim much easier.
Ofc best if you are on your raft under a roof at the time.

Some of these kill achievements are annoying and a time waste, especially when they add minimal value to the overall gameplay experience.

Method I suggest using is to hit the Screecher I believe 8 times (hard) with a metal arrow, save the game, kill it and quit to main menu without saving. Load back in, hit it once to kill it and repeat the process until the achievement pops up. You can do this with other enemies as well for the achievements ( I recommend using this same technique on Anglerfishes ).

The hardest achievement for me was the survival of a full year (365 days), as I finished the game on the hardest difficulty with roughly 200 days to spare, so managing hunger and thirst while doing nothing else was mentally taxing :steamsad:

The hardest for me are the shipwreck and plane crash. Haven't found either yet.

The easiest way to get the screecher I found is sail your raft as close as you can to its territory so it aggros on you. You'll need a roof that's at least 1 1/2 high that you can duck under. Then it's just a matter of learning how much to lead with your arrow shots to hit it, and ducking back under the roof after you shoot.

I had that fear due to how many people shared it, but now I've just finished what is supposed to be chapter one, and it took me half an in-game year. I guess I will replace that with other fears now :P

I didn't really spend much time decorating or making my boat look unique - it's all about the efficiency for me, hence so many spare in-game days :winter2019joyfultearsyul:

The art collection was by far the longest to collect. Screechers are a technique, but once you get it sorted it's very satisfying to take them out - good job op!

I will never understand why people care in any way about archivements.
Worst archivement i ever saw was "Die 500 Times", in a survival game

You kill screechers so you can scavenge the whole island in peace, it's a good enough reason. it can happen you get achievements at the same time

They are really not that dangerous if you just don't stand still for a few seconds, but are annoying to kill due to being out of melee range and having (somewhat) unpredictable movement when flying around for a boulder. Better to just run into the island, get what you need and then just leave without wasting time with them.

And even if you did kill all of them, you come across these islands not that often and 50 is quite a big number for low value.

I enjoy completing games with all of their achievements as it makes it feel more enjoyable for the most part. There are many games, including RAFT, that have some really poorly thought out achievements that does hurt the experience and at the end, leave a bad taste in one's mouth

If one is spending enough time getting things & doing tasks near them, one can just keep an eye & ear while doing their thing, and give them a hit as they approach. That's what I do, as with the time I spend they're either dead at some point or very close to that, so I chase them for the last few hits. Pursue this as safe as you can end up, given your difficulty, armor, and healing situations, and if other hostiles are present.

Yeah, well, I don't really get why people feel so strongly about sports teams, or watch gaming streams of strangers *regularly*, and you can imagine how people feel trolled when they see me preferring hot water to coffee or tea, and, I've known people who, out of preference, are willing to strip a pizza from each & every topping existing on it instead of powering through by laziness or peer pressure. Dictionaries and games might as well start defining humans as "weirdlings" instead of "humanoids" for a bit more accuracy.

After finishing the story in my latest play through, I kept playing in that save to go after the achievements. I had found the shipwreck island early in that game and some achievements that I got were just because it was my fourth time playing. It took me quite a while to get Not a Great Landing. I used the save game/do achievement activity/quit without saving/ reload trick for a few of the achievements: Expert Screecher Hunter, Expert Warthog Hunter, Expert Anglerfish Hunter, Artistic Collection and Expert Wrangler. I would say Artistic Collection and Former Glory would have been the harder to get by just regular play as you only have a chance to get them when digging on islands where your metal detector says to. I probably got at least 20 paintings before getting the set of eight and got 10-12 tiki statues before getting the set of four.

I still need to get Expert Painter, Expert Gather and Expert Builder. In my first three play throughs I didn't paint a single block so I've been working on it in this play through. I'm pretty sure I can finish these last three when I play the game again. I know I'll be playing it again after the VR mod gets released.

Because i like to stand still without having to sprint all the time, lol . Gives me complete freedom if screecher is taken down, easily done with metal/titanium arrows .

Same for warthogs as it gives leather and meat. Problem solved, do everything on a large island and in PEACE
