Can't choose fishing bait

Does anyone know how to fix it? I tried assigning keys to LMB and RMB, no result. I have no issues with hammer menu, only with the fishing rod. I have it in my inventory, the bait is highlighted in the menu as available, it just does not react to clicks.

Are you sure it's not working? I'm being serious here, neither the menu itself nor the inventory icons show that anything has changed when you select the bait. The lure at the end of the fishing rod you're holding in the world, however, does.

Just tested, because I mostly play 1st person. Unfortunately, still does not work.

The number of bait in my inventory does not decrease, and I can't get any new fish, just the regular one.

' Holding RMB ' and ' click LMB ' to select bait ,

rather than
simply ' Let go ' of the RMB before choosing,

They should make the menu go away if you let go of the right mouse button, the first time it took me a few attempts before I realized you have to continue holding the right button and then select with the left.

Have similar problem every time I want to select a bait, does not respond to LMB, have to click a few times for selection to work.

Ill admit it can be confusing - holding rmb doesn't make sense unless it's a directionnal wheel (keep pressing rmb, would open the wheel, move cursor in the direction of the bait you want and release the rmb would use the correct bait, meaning no lmb required)

Well, devs aren't veteran in the video game field so it's fine even if it's clearly not obvious because of how we are used to have more clear/shared/similar UI in recent games.

I guess the wiki could use an extended "how to use a bait" description with either screenshot or small yt video linked to help confused new player.

No offline mode, no mods. I'm playing it for the first time.
Yes, I'm holding RMB. Just like with the hammer, but for the hammer it works, for the bait it doesn't.
